WELCOME to the CHOC Talk, the message forums of the CHOC Board (the Christian Homeschool Online Community Board for westside, and general, Portland, OR). These forums act as "classified ads" and message boards for Christian homeschoolers, and businesses and organizations that serve homeschoolers, to connect with each other to share specific details and information, including time-sensitive events, useful to the homeschool community. The forums are also a great place to connect with other like-minded individuals. Please feel free to contribute knowledge of an upcoming event, fun outing, great activity, new class starting, or query others about a homeschool issue or share homeschool ideas. The forum headings show what topics should go where. The sticky topics in each forum tell how to post and what is allowed (please remain respectful of a Christian worldview and always friendly, wholesome, and truthful). This is the interactive side of our CHOC board "directory" where you in the homeschool community can help generate those great ideas that get archived on our website! (To see the CHOC Board website, please click on our logo above). So join in the fun, post, and connect!

Amity/McMinnville homeschoolers

I am currently a SAHM to 3 boys ages 6, 4, and 20 months. I plan on homeschooling them for awhile and we are moving to the Amity/McMinnville area sometime in the next few months. Anyone know if there is an active homeschool group in the area and how we can get involved? If not, are there any of you who are in the area and interested in starting a group, particularly with younger children? My 6 year old wants to have lots of kids to play with, and I'd like to acomodate that without sending him to school.

Re: Amity/McMinnville homeschoolers

Hi,

There are a number of homeschool groups in the extended McMinnville area, information for which I'll paste below from the CHOC Board's directory page.

I doubt you'll see too much activity during the summer for any homeschool group...generally if anything it will be park days and such.

Here's the groups:
FISH Net (OCEANetwork Affiliate): FISH Net (Fellowship in Schooling at Home Network) is a ministry of Bethel Baptist Church in McMinnville. We strive to be an encouragement to homeschooling families and to those considering it as a future option. For more information call Geri Ann Horton at 503-472-9341. (Gaston, McMinnville)

SACHSN (OCEANetwork Affiliate) Salem Area Christian Home School Network meets the 2nd Thurs. of the month (Sept-May, excluding Dec) at 7pm at Faith Baptist Church, 3345 Cordon Rd. NE, Salem. For more information please contact Colleen Busch @ 503-390-8043 or Kim Glenn @ 503-304-7169. It has also started a new wiki at http://sachsn.wikispot.org/front_page (Salem area)

Blessings,
Tammy
