WELCOME to the CHOC Talk, the message forums of the CHOC Board (the Christian Homeschool Online Community Board for westside, and general, Portland, OR). These forums act as "classified ads" and message boards for Christian homeschoolers, and businesses and organizations that serve homeschoolers, to connect with each other to share specific details and information, including time-sensitive events, useful to the homeschool community. The forums are also a great place to connect with other like-minded individuals. Please feel free to contribute knowledge of an upcoming event, fun outing, great activity, new class starting, or query others about a homeschool issue or share homeschool ideas. The forum headings show what topics should go where. The sticky topics in each forum tell how to post and what is allowed (please remain respectful of a Christian worldview and always friendly, wholesome, and truthful). This is the interactive side of our CHOC board "directory" where you in the homeschool community can help generate those great ideas that get archived on our website! (To see the CHOC Board website, please click on our logo above). So join in the fun, post, and connect!

Further Details
http://www.hillchamber.org/stw will have information available about the Providence Career Highlights. The site will have the calendar, registration begin date, closing registration date and indicate if an event is full. Students/counselors/staff will register from this site.

I encourage you to visit the site; starting on September 8, 2009. The student/counselor/staff will be able to print after they have completed their registration. No more forms to fill out!! The student will need to sign and obtain their parent signature. (If not 18).

After registering for an event they will receive a thank you for registering but NOT a confirmation that they are confirmed to attend the event. As it indicates on the registration “confirmation will be verified and sent to the school.”

Our goal of timeline for process:

Registration end date will be approximately 3 weeks from the date of the event to allow enough time for the schools to inform the students.

Within 2 days of the deadline date a student list will be emailed to the school.

Reminder post cards will be mailed by Providence within 10 days of the event.
Students will receive a reminder email within 5 days of the event.

Remember there are always exceptions.

We hope with three different type of notification that this will decrease our no show rate.

Students that have 2 no show or call; they will loose their opportunity to attend any health career events for the remainder of the school year. This includes Providence & Legacy.

Exceptions included:

Sick, cancelled within 48 hours of event or discretion of the counselor.

Cancellation the morning of the event is considered a no show.
