WELCOME to the CHOC Talk, the message forums of the CHOC Board (the Christian Homeschool Online Community Board for westside, and general, Portland, OR). These forums act as "classified ads" and message boards for Christian homeschoolers, and businesses and organizations that serve homeschoolers, to connect with each other to share specific details and information, including time-sensitive events, useful to the homeschool community. The forums are also a great place to connect with other like-minded individuals. Please feel free to contribute knowledge of an upcoming event, fun outing, great activity, new class starting, or query others about a homeschool issue or share homeschool ideas. The forum headings show what topics should go where. The sticky topics in each forum tell how to post and what is allowed (please remain respectful of a Christian worldview and always friendly, wholesome, and truthful). This is the interactive side of our CHOC board "directory" where you in the homeschool community can help generate those great ideas that get archived on our website! (To see the CHOC Board website, please click on our logo above). So join in the fun, post, and connect!

posticon Introduce Yourself

Hi,
I'm activating this account as a test to help refine the directions for the CHOC Board...so you can blame me if they don't make sense!!!

Also, I'll sign in as TammyAathome when I'm just one of the gals (rather than having the administrator hat on :-)

You'll recognize my name as one of the names behind the CHOC Board. My husband and I have started the CHOC board after much prayer and thought in how we could help Westside homeschoolers connect better.

We are a homeschooling family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) in the Beaverton area. We've homeschooled now for 11 years going on our 12th.

My oldest daughter, 19, is in the Vet Tech program at PCC, and doing very well. She graduated from homeschool high several years ago. (Our first...sniff, sniff).

My second daughter, 17, is a senior in homeschool high, and has been accepted to Multnomah Bible College on the President's scholarship (Yea!)...she will major in the journalism program there.

My son, 15, is a freshman in highschool and very active in SPLASH (THPRD's beginning competitive swim team) and our homeschool band. We did a LegoRobotics club with him this year too as he is studying to become a mechanical engineer.

We hope this board will become a useful tool and great blessing to those in our area as we connect, support, and bless one another in our homeschooling endeavors before Christ.

I'd love to get to know other homeschool high families around our area!

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi,

Thank you for putting the Choc Board together!

We have one teen at PCC who is 18, and two at home ages 16 and 14.

We'll keep checking in for updates and try to contribute when we hear anything out there for teens.

Hi my name is Trina. We have six sons and have been homeschooling for many years now. I have a son that is 19 and has been graduated for a while now. Our 16 year old has been attending PCC too. We have a 14 year old son who is involved in FFA, and an 8 year old son who has been attending public school this year (his first and only year). We would love to find some activities for the 14 and 8 year old with their peer groups. I also have a 3 and a 1 year old (again all boys). We live in Banks and we are running a ranch, so we stay busy with animals and such. We would love to meet other families in our area. emoticon
