Changing the number of displayed threads and topics per page
Hi Guys,
As part of a premium board features, I now have the ability to increase the number of threads and topics displayed per page, so I have done exactly that and increased them to their maximum (50 threads per page and 30 replies per page) This has resulted in a considerable decrease of thread page numbers of some of the monster threads I used to have.
The question I have now is this:
If I was pointing and linking to a specific post/reply in a particular thread that was on page 10 for example, would that link still work when this same reply has now shifted to page 2 for example?

Links to threads will still work, regardless of which page it's listed on. As for links to specific replies, however, some will work and some won't.
Go to one of your forums, then from the topic listing, hover on the page numbers for a thread and look at its url in your status bar. The first page doesn't have an offset in the url, page 2 has offset=30, page 3 has offset=60, etc. There is no longer a thread page defined as offset=20, so that won't work, but offset=60 will still take you to the 60th through 89th reply, where it would take you to the 60th through 79th reply if you had 20 replies per page.
I hope this makes sense.

Thanks Lesa,
So based on what you said and in my case with having an established board that worked on the previous (default) structure, maybe increasing/changing these two settings is not such a good idea so late in the game

You're welcome, Jalal.
If you have a lot of links to specific replies, then yes, you might want to change the number of replies per page back to its original setting.
The number of topics per page is a different story, though, and you can change this as often as you want with no ill side effects.

I will do just that then.
Will only use the increased number of topics per page feature and leave the other one as default.
