Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
Bill,
I added the pics for you. The first one was way too big so I resized it for message board use.
The url address of this picture suggest that this was Jack Anderson's car.
I hope someone recognises a face or a car in these two. Come to think of it, the guy on the right looks a bit like the late Rene Charland.
Bill adds:
"The second guy is Dee Goodermotte, the driver I believe. He's the short one not in the farmer clothes, at any rate.
Thanks again,Bill

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
The Jack Anderson URL is erroneous - my fault. I tend to name my photos a certain way. Jack told me it wasn't any car of his later.

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
The particular 8 Ball picture with the car on the trailer was LIttle Joe D'Avignon [pronounced Devino]. Joe lived in COrnwall, VT where I doubt he dealt with very many toll plazas. Knowing Joe, he just didn't have four trailer tires. He went on to promote Hillside Raceway near Vergennes, VT for a while.
Can some email we at wladabou@comcast.net and explain how the hell you insert photos into one of these ?

Bill,
I wrote a tutorial on posting pics HERE. The important thing to remember is to keep them a manageable size for a messsage board, which is 640 x 480 pixels. Photobucket has a setting on their site which will automatically size all pics you upload to this size.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
I'd like to pick peoples' brains out there to id some cars I haven't been sure about for decades. Take a look at these oldies. I think many of the cars from NY which came to Fairmont Speedway in the 1960's were already established runners at places like Whites Beach, Warrensburgh, and more.
Anything stir a memory ?

In the Early Fifties Dee Goodermote in his 158 and Jack Sweeny Seen here in his farmer style driving suit were a pair of hot competitors of my Dad Lou Hacker and his #00. These guys came from Berlin NY. Great Family that we hung out with as kids and played in thier snowy hills during the winter- Great Sleding in those hilly farm pastures.

Thanks for the reply Paul. There are three guys in farmer style driving suits. Which one is Jack Sweeney?

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
The guy on the left looks a bit like a young Les Alberti. Does anyone agree? Or could this be a little before his time?
