Gro51, welcome to our message boards. Where'd you get that great pic of Lou Hacker? Got any more old pics?

We're all friends here, please introduce yourself. emoticon

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District

Hi - I live in Schodack, NY. Grew up in Gt. Barrington, Mass. My parents were part owners of the Link Pettit "200" car in the early '60's (Lebanon Valley Speedway) and I was practicly born at that track. I am a big fan of Bill Ladabouche's Catamount Stadium website:

http://www.catamountstadium.com/Index.htm

and Otto Graham's old website.

Most of the pics I have have already been sent to those websites, but I enjoy trying to match up drivers/names with cars, as well as any local vintage dirt racing nostalgia.

Joe,

Thanks for the introduction, it's great to have people like yourself on our message boards. I too, find it interesting to match up names with old race cars, etc. A trip to the former Pine Bowl Speedway is in the works this Spring to get some updated pics of the track's condition today. It has to be done now before the leaves grow back.

Sounds good. Let me know when you go. If it's a weekend, count me in. Do you know if there's anything to see at the old Route 66 Speedway up the road?

I don't think there's much left to see at Rt.66 Speedway. There's a house built down near where the track was and I don't know the owners at all. Otherwise I'd ask to walk around down in there.

Gro,
I woulld talk to someone before just venturing onto the land at PineBowl. From what I havge heard at two straight lost race conferences, the landowner might have been a dropout from charm school. He's not nuts about people on the property. What's wrong with these guys ?

Good point Catstad. It's been a long time since I've been shot at. Don't want to press my luck. Mike Kamm - Have you been in there before? Do you know the landowner?

No, I've never been there. But a friend said she will take some pics for us. She said she knows someone who can contact the owner.

Otherwise, there's always Google Earth. emoticon
