Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
Welcome to our message boards Danny!
Glad to have another true early racing aficionado on board. The aerial satellite shots are interesting. I forgot all about the old track in Coxsackie!

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
Hi Danny,
I'd like to get into the grounds of the former Whites Beach Speedway. But, that involves literally going into someone's yard, as the old track is practically part of their front yard. I guess m,ost of the old contouring is still there.

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
AMEC has a short bit of video footage from a time trial type event we held at the Whites Beach track from the 60's on our 50th anniversary historic DVD. I drove down whites beach road in 2003 (It says private road) and couldn't see anything but I didn't really know where or what to look for.

Re: Historic racing in the Capital District
Bill I walked Whites Beach last fall. You can get in there. I parked down by the walk path, went a little ways through the woods, and ended up on the back stretch. I walked 3-4 and about 1/2 way down frontstretch before going into owners yard. Tried to stay clear. In the infield there is still light poles hidden between the trees, and still fencing on the frontstretch.Track is still visible, but getting very overgrown. Back stretch is almost completly overgrown, but you can still follow the burm around the outside. I have movies and photos of the track.

Darn! I will be away that day.
Thanks for letting us know about this Spring's Lost Speedways presentation. Also, thanks for sharing your findings regarding the old Whites Beach track. Now's the time of year to be looking at these old sites. Once the leaves bloom visualizing anything is very difficult.
