GLAD RAG Euro Rallycross 2008 Event Info and driver's roster
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Year's EURO-Rallycross Is going to be a Blast!
When:
Gates open at 9:00 am. Be at the track no later than 10:00 am. Be ready for the driver's meeting at 10:30.
What:
European-Style Rallycross. For those that don`t know what a (European style) Rallycross is, it's a race usually consisting of 4 cars, racing wheel to wheel around a course of both paved and dirt surfaces. Standing starts are employed. The sport was first devised in the UK back in the late 60`s / early 70`s for TV audiences. These "saloon car" races are very big in Europe, but until 2006, there had not been any such events in the US. It is not a timed solo event like what "Rallycross" is known as here in the US.
Who:
Any A.M.E.C., C.V.R.A., C.N.Y.I.R.A. or similar organization members AND anyone who can use PROPER RACE TRACK EDICT!! Minimum age is 14 with previous racing experience. I do NOT want a demolition derby and this is NOT an enduro race or cannonball. This is a NON/MINOR CONTACT (but...rubbing is racing) style Race. There may be some nice cars out there racing so you do not want to hit them. If you want to race an enduro sign up at www.cvra.com.
RULES as of APRIL 2008: (will be updated and some are ONLY RECOMMENDED)
- Minimum 4-point roll cage (6-point recommended)
- Minimum 4-point harness (5-point recommended)
- Car MUST have Fire Extinguisher within Drivers Reach In car. and no, don't mount it somewhere where it can hit you in the head if you get hit by someone.
- a 55 watt yellow fog light, OR BRIGHT L.E.D. (big truck turn signal light)facing the rear is recommended (dusty track days). and/or a Brake Light
- Snell Approved Helmet (2000+ recommended)
- a smaller CAR under 3200 lbs.
- Car can be FWD, RWD, or AWD
- Headlights/Directionals MUST be Taped off
- Number on car MUST be visible and readable
NO "JUST SPRAYPAINT" NUMBERS (you know what im talking about, the ones from enduros that you can't read).
- Car must have somewhat of a Nice Appearance. No Totaled Junk cars and what not.
- Fire gear is recommended only.
CLASSES:
Racing/Rally Prepared (RP) Class - The "Fast" ones, AWD, Turbo, Dune Buggys, supermod cars, rally cars, 8cyl, etc...
Super Saloon (SS) Class - The "Stock" FWD + RWD 4-6 cyl Cars that are not modified preformance wise too much.
2009 PRO-AM 2 (T2) Class - Small, 4 cylinder, 2wd, RWD, regular Cab, Short Box, IFS Front (Independent front suspension), Pick Up Trucks with STOCK size Tires and Stock Suspension. ROLL BARS REQUIRED. Follows same rules as EURO-Rallycross Cars.
What happens if you win your Feature race or Points? I have not decided. BUT I know I MAY have trophies.
1st Place
2nd Place
3rd Place
Special Awards:
Mr. Excitement - who was caught in the air by the photographer?? or who got the crowd going??
Long Haul - Who Drove the furthest to race?
the "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" TECH Award - MR. Carl will choose. whoever puts a smile on his face during tech.
maybe more awards to follow...
Where:
The Glad Rag Speedway
Go to www.mapquest.com, type in your address as the departure point and this address as the destination:
Glad Rag Speedway
29 Holmes Rd.
Porter Corners, NY 12859
Directions from the south:
Basically, you'll be looking at Northway to exit 13N for Rt. 9 north to Saratoga. About 2 to 3 miles into the city and look for a left turn for route 9N. Take 9N for about [guessing] 15 miles until you see a blinking yellow light on 9N in Greenfield Center. Go straight through the light for another 2 miles or so and Holmes Rd. will be on your right. It's easy to miss Holmes road. You'll likely see it while passing it. Just turn around and go back if that happens [it happens to me every time]. Upon turning onto Holmes Road off of route 9N, you will go down about a eight mile and turn right when you see the "Glad Rag" sign on your right. Once in their parking lot, you will see the Glad Rag Saloon.
Spectator Parking:
Will be in the front Glad Rag Saloon Parking lot and not in the pit area with the race cars. Don't enter the race track area for spectator parking. Only trucks, trailers, and race cars are allowed in the pits.
Racers:
Continue through the parking lot, past the Glad Rag Saloon and bear a bit left to enter the track area. Proceed straight across the oval, past the drag strip starting line and keep left to enter the pit area. We'd like to see all racers arrive by 10:00 am for registration. Earlier is fine too, but be there by 10:00, as we want to start the event at 11:00 am.
Registration:
Contact me by sending me an email to halo2jc@yahoo.com or call me at (518) 378-0512 to reserve your spot. On race day, and upon arriving at the race track, make your way over to the pavilion in the pit area to sign in and pay your entry fee.
Entry Fees:
This is a SPECIAL EVENT. $50 Dollar Entry Fee PER CAR. $5 dollars for Spectators. Workers get in for Free (not racing).
We welcome your feedback, questions, and comments. Please post them HERE on the Euro Rallycross 2008 discussion thread.
Thanks,
Thomas Compoli

Re: EURO-RALLYCROSS 2008
I should be in with the black E class honda if we are here when it is scheuled. Probably can help with the line ups, handy capping and results like the last two times.

Re: EURO-RALLYCROSS 2008
I am happy to see Darryl's name on the driver's roster once again. As before, he doesn't have a suitable car of his own. My guess is Top Cat is loaning him his carbureted '85 Accord.
OK, time to initiate some friendly trash talk. In that car, he has no chance to win. It will be a pleasure smoking Mr. Excitement once again. Remember when you were outrun by that same little red tin box Sentra at the the Iceberg 75 back in '99 big D?
You said it would never happen again.
Perhaps it will my friend! My single cammer against yours this time.

Re: EURO-RALLYCROSS 2008
What tires are being used? How much paved vs. dirt?
