Are you capable of timekeeping during the race? If yes (even if it are just some guys keeping times with chronometers...), maybe you can try to adopt the rallycross raceday scheme (timed training, 3 heats and finals). Timed training let's cars start with intervals of a few seconds, and contains an inlap, and two seperate timed laps... fastest lap counts for the start order of the first heat... (you can let this behind, and just use the car numbers for the start order)

Heats are driven with 3 to 5 cars (depends on the overall number of competitors...), and the 2 last driven heats with pair and unpair numbers (for example if you got 8 cars: first driven heat is for cars with 2d, 4th, 6th and 8th time, second driven heat is for cars with 1th, 3th, 5th and 7th time... if you got 13 cars, first heat is for cars 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, second heat for 2,4,6,8, third driven heat for 1,3,5,7...)
Heats drivers all start at the same time...

2d heats start order depends on first heat results, and third heat on second heat results...

heat results are made as followed: you give the fastest time number 1, second time number 2, and so one... a no-finish is 80, a no-start 90 and a black flag (=disqualification) 95...

After three heats, you counts the two lowest numbers of each driver togheter for the start order of the final... (for example, if i've driven the 1st, a 5th and a 2th time, my sum is 3...), and you rank from low to high for the starting order... 80, 90 and 95 may not be counted in in these sum (so you need to drive two times, in order to be ranked for the finals)

For the final, you got two systems...
-the old european system, which is still used in the netherlands (2 finals (A & B) with 8 cars, and the winner of the B-final joins the other A-finalists on place 8 on the grid, so there are 15 competitors which are ranked...)

=>grid example

.....6..........7..........8
..........4..........5
.....1..........2..........3

=>point giving
place / points
1 / 20
2 / 17
3 / 15
4 / 13
5 / 12
6 / 11
7 / 10
8 / 9
9 / 8
10 / 7
11 / 6
12 / 5
13 / 4
14 / 3
15 / 2
16 and higher / 0 or 1 (depending at the championship)
disqualified for the whole event (non-conformity of the car / exceptional unsportive behaviour) / E

- The nowadays European system, which contains 3 finals of 6 cars (A, B & C), winner of C-finals moves to place 6 of B-Final, and winner of B-final will move to place 6 of A-Final... In this system, there are 16 point-scoring drivers

=>grid example
................5.........6
..........3..........4
.....1..........2

=>point giving
place / points
1 / 20
2 / 17
3 / 15
4 / 13
5 / 12
6 / 11
7 / 10
8 / 9
9 / 8
10 / 7
11 / 6
12 / 5
13 / 4
14 / 3
15 / 2
16 / 1
17 and higher / 0 or 1 (depending at the championship)
disqualified for the whole event (non-conformity of the car / exceptional unsportive behaviour) / E

The program would be as following...
- Free practice
- (Timed practice)
- 1st heat (splitted in sub-heats of 3 - 4 - 5 cars / subheat)
- 2d heat (")
- 3d heat (")
- finals

An example of how the timekeeping scheme would look like is this...

Kenny Marshal called it the "Mud Hole 100"

There was standing water on the oval and on the sand.

5 Cars braved the wet conditions

#1ss - Thomas Compoli - VW Rabbit(e-class)
#31ss - Neil Heinz - Acura Integra(d-class)
#7ss - Daryll Carl - Toyota Corolla (rallyx)
#15ss - Justin - Dodge Neon (ministock)
#34ss - Mark Long - Honda Civic (e-class)

Thanks to Kenny Marshal, Mike Glock and Matt for working the event.

My car got wet and sand kept jamming my throttle wide open. emoticon Plus my engine got
wet in the last heat and barely ran.

Still it was a good time.

I did get a in car camera video of the 1st heat. Those Hankook rally tires really helped in the slop!

woohoo! i had fun. im sure mike glock heard me going "woohoo" going by him a few times.

im not bringing the iceracer to a muddy race like that again, but i sure had fun. ill stick to using the toyota or something.

thank you all for attending. it was wild. it was wet. it still has dirt in your car that will probibly still be there for awhile, but yeah. at least i saw smiles.

mark, video was great, i was in the lead, then it wouldnt go into 2nd gear, then i got it in, then hit the puddle, couldnt find wipers, hit the defroster instead so i went in pits. haha! then i cheated and got put a lap down. then started in the back for the feature and won with only 3rd gear. we need to get more incar stuff. what camera is that? cause i need one. ill sell my mini dvd handycam for one of the ones you have.

It is a JVC GZ-MG77. It has a 30 GB hard drive which can record 14 hours at normal resolution and 7 hours at ultra fine. I have found the hard drive does not work too well in my running car with an aftermarket coil and no noise condenser, So I use a 2 Gig memory chip,. You can pick up one for about $425 now. I have the extended warranty emoticon
The good thing is it makes mpeg files so copying to a computer is very fast.

I am guessing the August event was not run this past weekend? Are any other events on the schedule going to be ran or is there simply not enough interest to continue?

That's a good question Jeffy. Although it's a sticky, I forgot about this series from lack of communication. I just looked at the proposed schedule and now realize that our Economy Run II / Go-Kart Challenge event conflicts with the proposed October event.

I'd say the course Glad Rag needs lots of work to continue holding events there.
