Here's the layout:

The jump may not exist and Tommy may decide not use the oval this time around. In the past, the oval has killed our tires.

Other than NO Studded tires, there are no tire rules whatsoever. Run what you brung.

A few questions...

-Isn't it easier to run the same lap each round (instead of first racing on the oval, and then racing on the dirt side of the track), so the dirt and the tarmac parts of the track are better mixed up?

-Isn't the tarmac/dirt ratio not enough without the oval? (in European rallycross, the dirt/tarmac ratio should be between 65/35 and 35/65). If so, you could drop the oval (where AWD and cars with less power have a huge advantage), so you get a faster track, which betters the chances of cars with more power... For keeping the FWD's competetive, you can use the FIA's capacity/weight system:

quote:

3.1 Minimum weight
The weight of the car will be measured while the driver (with his full equipment) is aboard, and with all fluids, which are aboad at the moment of the measurement.
The weight will be conform with the following table:

till 1000 cm³ : 770 kg
from 1000 cm³ till 1400 cm³: 860 kg
from 1400 cm³ till 1600 cm³: 950 kg
from 1600 cm³ till 2000 cm³: 1030 kg
from 2000 cm³ till 2500 cm³: 1130 kg
from 2500 cm³ till 3000 cm³: 1210 kg
from 3000 cm³ till 3500 cm³: 1300 kg
from 3500 cm³ till 4000 cm³: 1380 kg
from 4000 cm³ till 4500 cm³: 1470 kg

All forms of charging (compressors, turbochargers,...) will multiply the capacity with 1.7 (benzine) or 1.5 (diesel)

-Does anyone now how long the oval and the dirt track are? Because with some luck, it is possible the get the track conform at the FIA regulations for rallycross tracks...
quote:

CHAPTER 3. RALLYCROSS CIRCUITS
1. Characteristics
Length (measured along the centre-line of the
course) : minimum: 950m; maximum: 1400m.
Width: minimum: 10m; maximum: 25 m
2. Composition:
Sealed surface (asphalt, concrete, etc.): between
35 % and 60 %.
The remainder unsurfaced (consolidated /
stabilised earth or gravel). In addition to watering,
anti-dust treatment is obligatory.
3. Gradients
Must not be steeper than 10 %.
4. Starts
There must be at least 100 m of straight from the
starting line to the first bend. The starting grid will
have a uniform surface of asphalt, tarmac, or concrete, this to continue for at least 30 metres
after the starting line. The width of the track at the
start line (minimum 14.50 metres) will be
maintained up to and through the first bend, which
must have a maximum radius of 25 metres and
result in a change of direction of at least 45°;
measurements will be calculated from the
centreline of the course.
5. Marking
Should there be a deviation in the course (e.g. an
artificial chicane included to reduce speeds), this
must be marked in an obvious and entirely
unmistakable way.

It is possible to add the newest feature in the ERC (the jokerlap:
quote:

6. Joker lap
Characteristics:
Length: must be such that the time needed to
cover a lap is at least 2 seconds longer than the
best lap time achieved in Division 1. at least 2 sec
longer than the time needed for the replaced
distance of the circuit.
Width: minimum 10 m, maximum 12 m.
The entry and the exit cannot be on the racing line.
A safety protection, to separate the two roads,
must be in place. At the exit it must be possible for
the cars to have the same speed as on the
traditional circuit.
A marshals’ post will be put in place if judged
necessary for safety reasons.
An Approval by of the FIA circuit safety inspector
is required.

, altough several rallycross fans already says that it destroys the close racing...

Now you can think, wy do we need those rules... well, if you guys can get rallycross up in the USA, then it will be much easier to get the ERC-drivers in the USA, and then it will be much easier to turn the ERC into the World Rallycoss Championship if the regulations on both sides of the atlantic ocean are partially the same...

And to be honest, you did a good job already (looking at the youtube vid, the pics and the regulations...)

well done!

It sounded like Shannon and myself were the only ones going to show, so I made other plans.
It costs me nearly 100 bucks in fuel to go to Glad Rag.
Maybe we should firm up a date in the fall. ?

Re: 2008 Glad Rag Euro-Rallycross Series

i was under the impression that mark and shannon were coming but no one tells me otherwise...

i had a list of 8 cars that were coming and 2 phone calls from amec members. one from mike kamm and one from shannon.

i do not use the internet that much. im having major problems with my internet connection and have been working on my 3 racecars (enduro, rally-x, and icerace) with no money or time.

here was the list of people attending as of the last i knew.

Me - i have 2 cars DFC is running the corolla, im running my rabbit (smacktalk says "thats right, ill own you all").

niel heinz (dont know how to spell it) MAY be running his integra, that would be great.

shannon had 2 cars racing i thought...

mark long and his civic.

justin from albany saratoga speedway in his dodge neon.

maybe another 2 cars from there too.

thats 7 cars so far. without mike, dave, george (called him just waiting for a reply). and only 40 dollers entry with a firesuit.

im looking to still run the event sunday. i need those waiver forms that dave had and i need a few volunteers that i havnt called already. (Mike glock is coming if we race). if no one wants to race. then we will do it next week. rain, shine, dont care. we need to get this type of racing out there to get more people into it. word of mouth as you know is greater then advertizing.

and btw, i like that techinal guy from belgium, i may need to listen to him in order to get this show on the road a bit.

but if everyone had fun last time, then we will have fun this time. we will do the same thing. and it will be 10 dollers cheaper for most.

ok if anyone has any questions, feel free to CALL ME. not assume that we are/arnt racing or no one signed up. take care and have a good evening. im going to scrape mud off and change tires for DC. why? cause happiness is more important then money and lending a hand to a friend/amec member is priceless. :-)
