I picked up the trophies from Mike Glcok today and Dave and Bryon said all systems are go.

Also, Dave has been working on some publicity for this event. He said that he has gotten some responses already from the press releases he sent out. The Schenectady Gazette called and will be doing an article and the Leader Herald from Johnstown might also. The WNYT guy (channel 13) sounded really interested as well.

The B210 runs quite well and is very quiet and smooth. I still have few bugs to work out. It is still a bit too lean with an air/fuel ratio of about 16.4 to 1 while cruising. I'll have to go into the carb and richen it a bit.

Also I found that the 32 year old vacuum advance diaphram does not function. Vacuum advance is definately something you want to have working properly if you're interested in getting good fuel mileage.

I'm pretty happy so far though.

If it works you will find out Sunday morning.

I hope it works and then you tell me what it is Richard. emoticon

I wonder how much the cooler temps will affect our mileage?

From experience, 45-50F vs 70F seems to drop my coast down by a little bit, maybe even 5%. Colder tires, denser air, etc.

It hasn't affected me much else than that, but I run hot air intakes on everything and block the grills like crazy in the winter. My truck always has 150F+ intake air temps. Less dense, less O2, less fuel, less power. The trick is feeding cold air when you need it for on demand power. Well ok, so I don't really need to do that with a 350ci.

Anyway I'd bet 2-5%.

Hehe, all these reporters, it'd be awesome to show up in the Festy riding on donuts, interior hanging out of the car, mufflers dragging (I'd add some to drag just for the effect), uninspected and still pull 50+MPG.

Oh well, that thing is sitting in the corner for a while, it died on me yesterday. Class, can anyone tell me why one would NOT want to put a 40A fuse between the alternator and a battery you just deep cycled (left my headlights on :X). Anyway needless to say, stupid thing will not charge itself when it needs it most because the fuse blows (literally emoticon).

See you tomorrow.

I had a thought about the donuts I ran [on the front only] at the last event. I don't think I gained anything with them. After all they are a bias ply tire [radials offer less rolling resistance]. Plus, the tread pattern on mine made the car whine like a siren all day. And of course with mixing both types of tires [front and back] the car wandered all over the place too. I'm sticking with radials from now on.

I need to make something today to duct warm air to my engine. The factory setup would have been perfect, but it is gone because of replacing the stock exhaust manifold with the header. I'll see if I can make something out of sheet metal today.

Our photographer Ronny Kienhius has to work this weekend and won't be coming out tomorrow. I'm hoping some of you will bring a digital camera and take a few pictures for us. Try to capture some of the color of the event. emoticon

I will be very busy all during the event as I will be the official in charge of fuel tank filling. Bryon will be weighing the cars [and Ernie's bike]. If any of you can help him out that would be great.

I will have my camera and try and get some shots.

I received an e-mail from the Leader Herald newspaper in Johnstown/Gloversville area that they don't have an extra reporter on for Sunday but would really like an article submitted and will run it for sure. Is anyone out there able to write one for us? We can work in just a short amount about the club being 54+ years old and our main interest being ice racing. This could possibly get some good publicity for the club and potential new ice racers too. The main focus of the article should be the Economy run though.
Let me know if you are interested and I will get you the contact info, I am sure we can get some photos to go along with it.

We made the front page of the Daily (Schenectady) Gazette today.
A nice article covering our economy run.
Wonder if it will bring any spectators.

The Leader Herald always seems to have that problem. If there is a car crash or something they find someone to cover it.
