Yeah I think so. Most of what I've done is simply copy what those guys and others on Ecomodder have already done.
Remember that quote I posted from Darin stating he can't use a belly pan because of the border patrol? Well he sent me a message today letting me know he couldn't watch me sticking things all over my car and just stand idly.
He's not sure it will work, but it's better than not trying anything. There's a thread about it HERE. It's all in good fun and the spirit of competition. I am truly looking forward to meeting these guys.

I dunno. There is a point where drag from increased frontal area exceeds the improved air flow.
Only a wind tunnel or on road experimenting will tell.

That's true Richard. The Ecomodder guys actually do test this stuff though. They do "coast down" tests. They are very methodical.

Re: AMEC Economy Run III August 23rd
We've had a few cancellations today, so we are currently at 24 vehicles. I have updated the roster on page 45.
I had an ambitious new additional aero project planned for today and tomorrow, and went to Home Depot last night to buy all of the materials. But unfortunately I now have a wake I have to go to tomorrow, so those plans are on hold for now. I'll have to run it as is. I did test drive it last evening and had no issues at all. The floor didn't get warm, I didn't smell any plastic melting, nothing flew off or loosened up, and the car coasts quite bit better now.
Let's hope for a dry Sunday so we can all get our best results.

Re: AMEC Economy Run III August 23rd
Regarding the grill block, last year I used cardboard and blocked half the grill. I had small plexi covers over the headlamps only.
This year I centered the air intake [which is more suited to the radiator's central position] and made them both out of plexiglass. I haven't taped them in yet.
My only concern is the forward leaning angle of the block plates and grill itself. My question is, would it be worthwhile to pull the bottom of the grill blocks out from behind the bumper and mount them in front of the bumper so they lean back a bit?
Opinions needed please.....

Re: AMEC Economy Run III August 23rd
Forgot to mention this, while test driving my B210 last night I passed a local restaurant. The bus boy is standing there with his white apron on and he sees my weird looking car coming. He puts his hand up to his forhead in the shape of an "L". I had to laugh out loud.
There's a thread on Ecomodder called "You know you're an Ecomodder if...." and this episode fits that scenario perfectly. I guess I'm the real deal now.

Re: AMEC Economy Run III August 23rd
Finshed my taping this afternoon. Took it or a test drive to check temperatures. Perfect.
Then I did a coast down test, 60-30. The numbers were very good.
And that was with the tires at 35 psi.

Re: AMEC Economy Run III August 23rd
Any of you guys know where I could find coroplast near Fonda tomorrow in the evening or very early Sunday morning?
I'm gonna have rear wheel skirts, front wheel deflectors and front wheel arch gaps fillers, side skirts and cowl cover with no wipers. I just need a sheet of coroplast to add a nicely rounded kammback Sunday morning.

There is a Home Depot and a Lowes just north of Amsterdam on Rt 30. Might be your best chance.

The car is modified [for performance], so don't expect really big numbers, but rest assured that Jonathan knows how to wring every last mpg out of whatever he's driving.
I've decided to bring it out anyway, despite the precipitation forecast.
GPS estimates about 3 hours to Fonda. I'll be out of the house about 4 AM to arrive by 7:30. See you in the morning.
