I'd be all over it if it could be made street legal.

Phil LePore shared his pictures with me from Economy Run III. They were all from the picnic after the event. Thanks Phil!

I got my SE-R out of a long storage today. Nice to see the car again and I can't wait to get it back on the road. Problem is, all I can think about is taking it out and flooring it!

I'm having a little trouble getting motivated to ecomod the Sentra because of the A.M.E.C. autocross the following weekend. I don't want to change the whole car around for one day, and then have to change it all back. Phil gave me a set of Eibach lowering springs for it. Perfect for the Economy Run, but no good for the autocross, [long story short- early Sentras only have 3" of front suspension compression travel to start with, so when you drop the car 2"...well you're basically riding on the bumpstops]. Tires: Ideally, I'd want to use the 155/80R13's off of my B210, but the bolt patterns are different. Eight mounts and dismounts for one day? Bah, forget it. I'll just tape up the grill and call it good. emoticon

What is my motivation then? I want to see if I can beat **** Vedder's ZX2 in this event. How he got 59 mpg I'll never know. All I can do is give it my best shot in stock form, and see if he can repeat the big numbers in November.

Mike that’s part of the reason I don't modify my Jetta Eco diesel for the economy runs I want to see what I can do with a normal car on a normal road. These high mileages are truly awesome but for the most part not real world stuff. I got 62 mpg with my car on the last economy run, never shut it off used the AC and didn't get pulled over for going too slow, plus I did it the fastest of any other car now that’s real world driving. That could be your goal for the next economy run a real world test!

Yes, A different kind of economy run.
I'll be able to run the auto cross the same as in the economy run, except maybe take some of the tape off. I will run my well worn Kumho SPT's since my R 6's don't work good in the cold and they are getting hard. Time to retire them.

Seeing the display of average mpg at 18 during an autocross run, when an average of 80 had been displayed during an economy run, is a bit of a shocker, but I'm not really surprised by either anymore.
To change my cars from economy mode to autocross mode consists of removing the driver's floor mat..... emoticon

At a track day I estimated my mileage around 10 mpg. That full throttle mode really sucks the gas.

Got my November 09 Hemmings in the mail today, its got a blue Olds 442 on the front cover, and the article on Economy Run III was in it. Nicely done I thought and the pictures were great. emoticon

In another article on the Hemmings Cruise-In

Great! Thanks for letting us know Bill. I should be getting mine any day now. Which Hemmings mag is it, Classic Car?

Congrats on the Fiat pic too!
