Re: AMEC Economy Run IV - November 1st, 2009 + Go-Karts
Mike, what time do you think you might start running the go-karts, if I can make it I may come for that.

Dave
We should be finished with Economy Run IV, and arrive at Checker's Out Speedway at about 1:30 pm. Awards and Lunch will follow, so I'd imagine the kart racing [for us] would start around 2:45 - 3:00pm.

Quick reminder to change your clocks on Saturday night. I just realized we gain an hour of sleep.

Looking forward to Sunday. The boattail is almost complete. Did a drive on the highway tonight and the car moves along effortlessly. I am looking for big numbers on Sunday.

A boattail? Holy Cow how cool is that!!!
Now I'm really looking forward to this Sunday.

Re: AMEC Economy Run IV - November 1st, 2009 + Go-Karts
There is nothing like an event due date to get ourselves motivated to finish [or start] a project. It's midnight and I'm out in the garage spraying coat number 2 of black paint tonight.
Bryon Seyfried is thrashing on his classic Datsun Z-car's fuel system to get it in good order to make the run.
...and Chang drops a bomb on us at the eleventh hour to squash anyone's hopes of overall victory.

Re: AMEC Economy Run IV - November 1st, 2009 + Go-Karts
Well, lets see. Tomorrow )Sat.) I will wash the car, apply some tape to the front, test for proper temperatures, put some more air in the tires, fill the fuel tank,I get 10 cents per gallon discount here.
And I'm good to go.
Out of curiosity, I did some research on the difference in rolling resistance of a tire with 2/32" tread and one with 12/32" tread.
There is considerable difference.

Re: AMEC Economy Run IV - November 1st, 2009 + Go-Karts
oops, I have been corrected. I guess what I built was a kamback, not a boattail. I am still a noob to all of this. It still moves along effortlessly though.
Still need to apply some tape to the drivers door.

Whew,
I was scared. Now the rest of us still have a chance for highest mpg of the day.
... still very much looking forward to seeing you, and the car again Chang. And I really appreciate all of the effort and the long distances people are travelling to make our event.
Getting up at 4:00 am is never "fun". Martin is travelling in from Quebec City, QC. That's about a 7 hour ride each way! He will be leaving tomorrow morning at 7:00 am, and the event isn't until the following day!
Bruce Turk is also coming up tomorrow and staying in Johnstown. The first smokey 2-stroke powered economy run entrant!
Me, I'll be peeling masking tape and newspaper off tomorrow and putting my car back together. Might even have time to switch to synthetic oils and "blow" the tires up as our friend Bill Clark says.
