Unemployment Continues to Fall
The latest unemployment figures show that there were 130,000 people in Scotland looking for work - 9,000 fewer than a year ago and 1,000 less than in the previous quarter. The Scottish unemployment rate of 4.9% compares with a UK rate of 5.2%. This week's figures also show total employment in Scotland stands at 2,536,000, a fall of 4,000 over the quarter but an increase of 15,000 over the year.
