The Shaft Of Wit 'Laughometer'!
So what the heck's this?
Well... on a lot of forums there is a 'karma' function, where you can give 'good' and 'bad' karma to people who post stuff...
You like them or their posts - you praise them, you don't like (or you're just being a vindictive *sshole), then you 'smite' them... the internet equivalent of the Roman Emporor's 'thumbs up/down' technique!
I can't be bothered with that, so I thought I'd do a bit of tinkering...
I got out my old sonic screwdriver and made a few minor adjustments... now we have a 'Laughometer'.
You can see the Laughometer on the left of the screen, under the number of posts and other info.
Here's how it works...
When you read a thread or a comment that you find worthy of acknowledgement, you can click on one of two buttons:
The 'Laugh Out Loud' button - clicking this gives the poster a '+1' rating to show that you find their stuff funny!
The 'Groan' button - clicking this gives the poster a '-1' rating to show that you're not laughing, or that the joke was sooo damned corny, you just HAD to groan!
You can only click the button once for each poster during a 24 hour period, and you can't change your mind.
So laugh or groan wisely here folks!
The best thing about this in my opinion... if you KNOW your joke/thread is going to be corny, then you expect to get a 'groan' here (and if like me, look forward to it) - that way, there's no nastiness - just good old audience participation!
In fact - where jokes are concerned, I think I like the groaners better...and believe me, I know plenty.
Have fun!
N.
