Well you've got me *skriking* too... the 'comedy ramble' I was doing today went pear shaped and ended up being just 'a walk' - pleasant enough, but NOT what had been originally intended (down to bad planning and NOT on my part) - so I'm p*ssed off re: that...

But... thanks to my birdwatching interest - I was *happy* to have spotted the following:

Great Spotted Woodpecker (one male adult and one juvenile... the latter having a completely red 'cap').
Chaffinch.
Jay
(two of which kept 'spooking' the other smaller birds).
Coal Tit.
Great Tit.
Robin.
Magpie.
Blackbird.

Great stuff!

Neil.

P.S. Zygon - all I can therefore suggest as a 'mood lifter' at the moment is to find something you ENJOY doing, or at least 'might' enjoy as a 'distraction technique' to take your mind off stuff - it's not a 'permanent' but can possibly help as a short-term intervention.

Good advice there N. Hope you can feel less self-destructive soon Zygon.

Shame about the Comedy Ramble going pear-shaped N. Glad you saw so many different birds though!

Aye me too - have to say it did give me a 'lift' because otherwise I'd've been well peed off and felt the day to have been a flop... don't get me wrong, I love a good walk, and had a good natter too - but it had s*d all to do with 'humour therapy' - I'm VERY disappointed as I'd discussed this in great detail with a couple of people a few months back, provided literature, a presentation and a paper I'd written myself... but it looks like on the day it was a case of 'fit it in' with an organised walk and therefore was unstructured and didn't work.

Now to me - I'd've done it this way - a group of people - just MOOCH ABOUT and chat... share stories and laughs etc. etc. - it DOES need a 'group' for this to work though... and potentially may not...

But to 'tag on' with a family and have a natter's not the same... you're repeating what you do... plus it puts a lot of pressure on a small number of people to 'join in' and therefore can be invasive...

I ended up just having a good walk with a feller and his two lads - a few jokes, the kids were belting and had a very good chat about all sorts, so that was okay.

One good thing though... one lad told me a corny joke that raised a chuckle though:

What do you get if you cross an elephant with a fish?
Swimming trunks!

emoticon

Anyhow - as I said... not my fault, not the rangers fault, nor the folk taking part... but the people who organised obviously didn't do a good job, hence the **** up - so I have to thank that feller and his kids, plus the birds for my coming home in a reasonable mood - and particularly the woodpeckers who I found entertaining and a delight to watch!

emoticon

N.

P.S. Sorry if I've 'took over' yer thread a bit Zygon... I felt like a *skrike* myself, so I put it here. emoticon

Maybe the fella & his kids were a "trial audience" type thing and he will report back to the Council saying whether he liked it or not?

Don't give up, it's a great idea!

How are you feeling today Zygon?

How's the course going by the way?

As to doing another - basically this is what I plan...

I'll sort one out on my own, and go on a couple of the 'Wigan Forums' to invite... I'll also do so here and on 'Planet Comedy' - you're welcome to come and join in when I sort it.

As for the council - stuff 'em, I'll organise it myself - they can tickle off!

And WORRY about the essay... you're entitled... I did wi' mine... but I'm sure that you'll get the support with it, and info on how to structure it etc. etc. - I never had any problems...

Still got mithered though - but that's al part of being human I reckon.

N.

P.S. Email response re: the ramble... comments about 'numbers' being a problem and could they contact me again for future stuff.

Politely, I said 'shove it' - and it's NOTHING to do with numbers - it simply had NO planning and so was a **** up... I shan't be mithering them again.
