Running Retreat in North GA Mountains?

Would anyone be interested in a running retreat in late summer/ early fall?

I am the board chair for a large piece (88 acres) of land in North GA that my son’s school owns. We are going to be marketing it out to groups, school running teams, churches, etc for retreats. There is a trailhead immediately leading from the property that links to various trails including the Pinhoti trail. This trail goes to Alabama in one direction and towards the Benton Mackaye/ Appalachian Trail in the other. The property sleeps up to 40-50 people in the bunkhouse with showers and an industrial kitchen. It’s not fancy but it’s very cool.

Let me know if interested in a Friday night -Sunday morning getaway. Also, I am open to adding boyfriends/girlfreinds/spouses, etc to make it more of a fun experience. We can vote on that if need be.

If will be a very inexpensive getaway. I will be setting up a good web page for the land as the current information is pretty lame. The land is located between Rome and the Alabama border in Summerville, GA. It takes about 90 minutes to get there from Atlanta.

Cheers,

Malcolm

This would be awesome, count me in Malcolm. When we did the trip up to ZAP a couple years ago, everyone had a great time.

I do not have anything official yet but the dates look like they may be 10/2-10/4th or more likely 10/23-10/25th. The latter falls on the weekend after Peachtree City 15k and 4 1/2 weeks before the Atlanta Half Marathon.

The cost will depend upon how many people we have committed. I assume nearer the time we will get a better idea. I am hoping we will have at least 10 people to keep the cost around $25. Not bad for a weekend of training and shananagans!

Post here if interested.

You will also be about 20 mins from Berry College there, which is also a great place for a good group long run.

Valentine,

Yes, I am awaiting for official confirmation and cost. The school has been out for summer break but I should hear back shortly. I am looking to go up there on either Friday night or Saturday morning, and stay until after our run on Sunday (10/23-10/25).

....more to come shortly.

Okay guys. I will send in the reserve paperwork as soon as I have definate committments from a few more guys. The dates will be 10/23 or 10/24 - 10/26. So far I have the following:

In (so far):
Me
Valentine
Mike Gerber
Mike Strickland

Maybe:
Erik Heintz?
Tim Titarka?
Leo?
Kel?
Jayaraj?
Andrew?

The total cost is $250 for one night or $350 for two. We will split the cost by the amount of attendees. I am hoping to get 10 people which will make it $25-35 p/person. Obviously more the merrier (and cheaper). I would like a committment by September 1st for those who are interested.

Call me with any questions. I am planning on running 10M or so on the Saturday and very long on Sunday. As well as running, there is a ping pong table and I will bring some games/cards, etc.
