Careflight 4WD adventure 2008 7-9 November

If anyone is interested in a weekend trip off road then check out this link Careflight 4WD Adventure. From the description given I think we would classify this as a grade 2 - easy off road but it might interest any member who hasn't done any off roading before but would like to try with an easy run.

Thanks Ron,

That sounds exciting and fun for sure.

I have tried to set-up a fun-raiser team for our forum, but for some reason the Careflight Adventure is not coming-up as one of the available events for me to select to a start a new team.

Hi Guys,

I have emailed NRMA CareFlight asking questions and received the following reply which will clarify a few things for us:

quote:

Hi Jalal,

Thank you very much for your e-mail. Great to hear that the forum is alive with info of the CareFlight Venture - we're really looking forward to it and would be very keen to strike up an ongoing relationship with groups such as yours through the event if possible!

This particular event is limited to 30 vehicles - but only because of accommodation at Taralga where we are staying on the Saturday night. Taralga is not a huge town (which is the appeal for us) but due to limited rooms we can only sleep a bit over 60 people. After that it's camping in the cold :-)

CareFlight does hold public liability insurance and the event is included within this. Our team are trained in off-road driving and recovery however the course is not so difficult that we expect to be doing massive recovery attempts. We do ask though (and it's not compulsory) that people bring a snatch strap etc if they have them. UHF radios are a must -worst case scenario is if the owners don't have them installed they can bring along a hand-held UHF.

Have a look at the link from our last event HERE - it was a much smaller "dabble" into 4WD ventures but we had a tops time. ThisSeptembers event will be even better and with some great dinners planned plus a few exciting stops along the way it's set to be a pearler.

I reckon it would an awesome event for our forum and we should get as many members to attend as possible. It'll be fun for all members and their families and we can establish an ongoing relation with CareFlight for future trips.

Hi Guys,

I have set-up a fundraiser page for our forum HERE

Let's help NRMA Careflight with their cause and show them our appreciation with the great job they're doing for the community.

That site doesn't seem all that secure Jalal. At least not for my browser...

I went through filling in some credit card details and as I tabbed through a little box popped up saying 'hi'... didn't seem normal to me so I canned the form.

Might just be me - but am on a heavily protected work laptop so it shouldn't have any problems.

Bloody hell, that was me trying to say "Hi" to you when I saw you online and you slammed the door in my face. hahahahahaha emoticon (just kidding)

Mate, the site is pretty secure for sure and it is the same website used by many charities.

Here is a quote from that website regarding credit card payments:

quote:

How secure are the donations?

The mycause website supports Secured Socket Layer based transactions (SSL) from a browser to a level at least 128 bits. This means that your credit card details are protected from being viewed by hackers and other unintended third parties so you can be 100% confident that your details are safe.

EDIT:

I just got this "Hi" as well emoticon

Image

I got it even before entering the credit card details. It might be something to do with the secure work connection, so I will try it from home and see what happens.

I'm sure either they are doing some testing or its a bug but it has got nothing to do with your secure work connection or their secure certificate.

You are right Harish. I have just done it from home and still got the "Hi".

I reckon it's a bug as you say and doesn't affect the security of the transaction at all.

Come-on guys. We've got a high target to reach emoticon

P.S. By the way, this donation will be submitted to CareFlight on behalf of the Australian X-Trail Forum, so you're not fundraising my participation in this event in case you're wondering emoticon

Good stuff Harish. Thanks for that.

I don't like FF emoticon

P.S. By the way guys, if anyone is thinking of attending this event, we better book a place early, as only 30 cars will be allowed to take part in this event.
