Victorian members
G'day everyone, I am wondering if Vic members or Southern NSW members have a get together or organise runs/meets at anytime. It would be good to get in touch with members closer to home.
Thanks, Guv.

Re: Victorian members
If that meet up is in the last 2 weeks of December you may have an invader from the north join you as I'll be in Mansfield for 2 weeks from the 16th...

Re: Victorian members
G'day guys, thanks for the replies.
Adrian, my time at home is limited due to working away most weeks in Sydney. I had a PM from one Vic member from the AWD club of Vic. He says he will be coming to Benalla Melb Cup w/e and driving through to Mansfield via Mt.Samaria.
A trip over to Bendigo would be good, timing depends on work, but now the contact has been made lets sort something out. Maybe even get some up from Melb.
Alan & Phillipa, Mansfield is only 55 km's away from Benalla and there is some fire trails /4wd tracks from Tatong through to Mansfield via Tolmie. Powers Lookout near Tolmie has sensational views over the Alpine National Park if the weather is clear. Let us know nearer the time and we can go for a drive.
Cheers, Simon.

Re: Victorian members
G'day Anthony, thanks for the update. If you will keep me in the loop I'd appreciate it - I should join AWDC Vic then I would know.
Also maybe XChunk, X971 (Adrian) member of this forum from Nathalia would also be interested.
Cheers, Simon.

Re: Victorian members
Simon and Adrian,
Great to see you guys interested in this trip. The plan i have in mind is to head from Mansfield and travel north on the Whitfield rd, turn left at Walker rd, then again onto Blue range crk rd. Will jump onto southern end of West Boundary track via BR4 or BR5, link up with Mt samaria rd and head north to top of park. Not sure whether to take Butchers trk and spring crk track back down or a lttle further up on sawyer rd linking up with Tolmie rd. Also planning to pay a visit to the Kelly tree picnic area and a few small tracks located nearby. In the past i have found around 50- 60km with a convoy of 8 - 10 vehicles takes nearly 4.5 - 5 hours offroad driving time depending on terrain.
The round trip for the above outline is around 80km back to Mansfield so on our club trip we may split the 2 areas over 2 days. The pre-trip will most likely be done in 1 day travelling from Melbourne.
The trip will be graded mostly easy with a few medium sections (No rock hopping or steep ruted sections as my Exy is Standard). Let us know the type of terrain in the areas i have mentioned if you have travelled these sections in the past.
Cheers,
Anthony.

Re: Victorian members
G'day Anthony, the trip planned sounds good. I am not familiar with road names but I have been up around that area several times, especially around the Kelly Tree. FYI the Kelly Tree is just a stump now as it was fellled after burning in the 2007 Tatong fires.
Most of the roads around Kelly Tree are used by logging trucks so mostly graded but with corrugations - good for the family wagon.
You said your exy was standard but you have a bashplate and Coopers. Not as standard as mine!
I'll get out the maps and locate the roads you have mentioned and maybe go for a drive.
Cheers, Simon.

Simon the trip up around Mansfield would be good around the Melb Cup wkend. Most of the time the weather is good that weekend so i will be interested in joining in, Not that im scared of a bit of mud and all, but to have my first trip away with other Xtrailers a nice weekend would top it off.
