Re: battery replacement

Not on topic but K Mart has nothing compared to Wal-Mart Jalal.
They sell everything from cars to hardware, furniture to toothpicks, you name it, they sell it.

We have a Costco just opened in Melbourne and there is one due for Sydney, Auburn towards the middle of next year.

Re: battery replacement

I don't think the one in Canada sells cars and our K-mart is a mini version of it. The question was about batteries at discounted prices....brand and realiability is another matter and this applies to Walmart products as well emoticon

I don't know if my battery will last long enough until Costco is open!!! Clare & I went there a couple of years ago when we went to Colorado, as her sister was a member. It was amazing the prices they had on all the electronics goods there (and everything else)! There have been a few articles about it on A Current Affair/Today Tonight earlier this year and late last year. For an idea of what Costco is like, picture Woolworths/Bunnings/Officeworks/SuperCheap Auto (and any other major chain store I've left out) all combined into one massive warehouse 4 times the size of the biggest Bunnings store you've ever seen emoticon I honestly don't know how any other stores are going to be able to compete with them. People already drive long distances just to go to IKEA @ Rhodes, and Costco will be no different.

Got more prices today. One store quoted me a different model number for the Super Charge maintenance-free 3yr warranty battery - MF75D23L for $152 instead of other store's $165 quote, so I'll double-check that model number when I go to KMART as I'd say KMART would be cheaper than all the other "specialty" stores. Repco was disappointing - It looked like they'd re-stickered the Century battery with their own name and whacked on another $30 to the price...

Re: battery replacement

Rich,

Try pricing the NRMA supplied batteries as well. I've hand no problems with any of their batteries in my previous cars and got one for the exy from them as well.

Re: battery replacement

I saw an NRMA Batteries van down the road yesterday morning and thought the same thing, but thought you needed to be a member to be able to get their batteries, and I'm not an NRMA member.

I think Marshall battery vans are still around too, aren't they?

I don't think you need to be a member to buy the NRMA battery, maybe you won't get the discount members get.

You could have stopped the NRMA battery van and offerred him payment by cash. Am sure he wouldn't mind selling it to you on the spot emoticon

Re: battery replacement

I bought one of those NRMA batteries a few months ago now. They had a choice of 2 different ones for the X-Trail. I think it was only $15 more for the larger capacity one for $165. I thought this was a reasonable price. The advantages of buying one of their batteries is they come to your home, they remove your old battery and they install the new one. Easy. On the plus side they have a 3 year warranty and if your battery should fail for some reason they come to you and replace it. If bought from a shop you would have to take it out of your car yourself then return it.

I just thought the price + free installation + the warranty made this look very appealing.
I am an NRMA member so are unsure about any cost if you are not a member??

The NRMA guy reckoned it was the original battery. He said he could tell by the Japanese writing on the battery. I guess he's the pro so he could tell. It looked original to me too. Not bad for 6years and 82,000km's. If only i could have bought another genuine original battery. The battery did die very quickly with little warning.

Re: battery replacement

Well KMART ended up being the most expensive of all of them (with the Exide 3-year warranty maintenance-free battery being $173), so I've ordered in the $152 one from the other store I got the quote a couple of days ago...

Re: battery replacement

Got the battery today, but thought I'd mention that the best price I got for the Century batteries was from Bridgestone (Hurstville) - $110 for the "58" model and $145 for the "68" model. I think the "58" was the 2yr warranty one and the "68" the maintenance-free 3yr warranty one.

So I ended up not saving $7 by buying the Super Charge battery instead of the Century one...

Chances are the original battery will die before I get a chance to replace it with the new one, but the main thing is I have it ready for when it does fail emoticon
