Re: Engine problem
Velon4,
Your intro post was missing information which would normally help us answer your questions a bit better.
We need to know where you're from and what type of engine you have in your xtrail.

Re: Engine problem
Am sad to say this to you but your engine is dead and will require full replacement.
What you're experiencing now in terms of power loss and excessive oil usage is a direct result of the loose intake butterfly screws damaging your engine permanently.
Full details of this defect can be found HERE

Re: Engine problem
You didn't specify whether you have owned the X-Trail from new, or whether you're the second or third owner etc. If you bought it new, you might be covered under Nissan Recall Notice as was already mentioned, even if it's out of warranty period. If you aren't the original owner of your X-Trail, then depending on how long you've owned it for, and who you bought it from (caryard or private sale) you might be covered under the car dealer's warranty.
All of these options might also depend on what the laws are in your country, too.
If all else fails, you should be able to get advice from consumer assistance organisation in your country. In Australia, it's called "Fair Trading" and is a government department. I expect your country to have similar laws protecting consumers.
Good luck with it!

Re: Engine problem
Rich,
There was no Nissan Recall for this concerning the xtrail.

Re: Engine problem
The smoke you see is the engine oil burning and it caused by the damaged pistons of the engine, so yes, it is related to the butterfly screws.
