Engine problem

Hi all.(Sorry my bad english language)

I have a 2003 X-trail in 72000km

I have a problem with my car engine. And my engine has very bad torque. It stall on ramp 120 km from to 80km in 2 minute.I pressing gass pedal maximum, and engine is turning 5500 rpm but i cant stop to stall. And another think; Oil consumption too much.It has burning 1 litre for every 300km.I dont know how is possible?I am very sad.
I am used oil 10x40 and 20x50 but it was burned everytime. My car is in 72000km Is this possible? And my car is maximum speed is 120km/h.
I used maybe 30 different car in my life so this car is worst.Service said we must open your engine but this is more expensive maybe 3000$. emoticon
Sometimes i can't believe to service. emoticon
Someone know this problem please tell me what is problem?
Thank you.
Best Regards.

Re: Engine problem

Hey velon4 (sorry dont know your name)

could possibly be the catalytic converter/oxygen sneor problem (read about it here
 emoticon

this is an official recall here in australia, im not sure about where you are, either way the high oil consumption might suggest that it is.

unfortunatley if you have parts of the cat. converter in your engine, this is a fairly expensive thing to repair. dont be too stressed at the moment though, depending on your country, it might be covered under a recall and you might be able to have it repaired free of charge!

hope ive helped a bit.
good luck

Cam.

Re: Engine problem

Velon4,

Your intro post was missing information which would normally help us answer your questions a bit better.

We need to know where you're from and what type of engine you have in your xtrail.

Re: Engine problem

Am sad to say this to you but your engine is dead and will require full replacement.

What you're experiencing now in terms of power loss and excessive oil usage is a direct result of the loose intake butterfly screws damaging your engine permanently.

Full details of this defect can be found HERE

Re: Engine problem

You didn't specify whether you have owned the X-Trail from new, or whether you're the second or third owner etc. If you bought it new, you might be covered under Nissan Recall Notice as was already mentioned, even if it's out of warranty period. If you aren't the original owner of your X-Trail, then depending on how long you've owned it for, and who you bought it from (caryard or private sale) you might be covered under the car dealer's warranty.

All of these options might also depend on what the laws are in your country, too.

If all else fails, you should be able to get advice from consumer assistance organisation in your country. In Australia, it's called "Fair Trading" and is a government department. I expect your country to have similar laws protecting consumers.

Good luck with it!

Re: Engine problem

The smoke you see is the engine oil burning and it caused by the damaged pistons of the engine, so yes, it is related to the butterfly screws.
