It may not be the butterfly screws.
Its impossible to tell half a world away without looking at them.
It could only be piston ring failure or wear. Especially if its blowing black and blue smoke.
The only way to tell is to take the thing apart and have a look.
Velon4, are you mechanically minded?
There is a DIY guide to remove the inlet manifold and tighten the butterfly screws in the forum that Jalal had posted a while back.
With a bit of luck all the screws will still be there. At least then you will know.

Tony,
The xtrail T30 engine has never had any piston or ring failures recorded since its introduction in 2001 with the xtrail (more so at only 72,000kms) and the only cause of piston damage that is known to date is the loose butterfly screws.
The symptoms mentioned by Velon match exactly those we have seen previously and which are directly related to the butterfly screws finding their way into the engine chamber. In Velon's case I believe it is more than just one screw and it is a result of prolonged driving with them inside the engine that has caused it (i.e. the problem has been caught too late in the game)
My greatest concern is that Nissan may not have fixed this issue with the T31 butterfly screws and only time will tell if we will come across such a drama or until I can find more details of the way these butterfly screws have been fitted in the T31 engine.
Velon: I suggest you take your car to the nearest mechanic and have them open the intake manifold to confirm this problem. That way you will know exactly the extent of the damage and what needs to be done. There are second hand engines on the market that can be obtained pretty cheap and am since you're located in Turkey you would have access to many of such places in your region.

I didn't mean to stir the nest but an engine is an engine no matter who makes it. I guess to your knowledge there have not been any ring problems with the T30, but there may have been.
I suppose Velon won't know for sure until he has a look inside.
Its got me concerned enough to have a look at mine as well.

Taking out the spark plugs and checking for any of them being closed shut might indicate loose butterfly screws also and it would be easy to do yourself.

It's happening because it is simply a design error by Nissan during production and it has been happening for quite a while to other Nissan models. As to how to prevent it and to find out more details about this problem, please read THIS thread and use it to ask follow-up questions.

Looks like i,ve joined the oil burners club, last year did a trip to nrth qld lot of 120km driving got back to gold coast and noticed oil level down, now going through 1l per 300klm after a trip to Gosford and back no oil showing on the dip stick and warning light never came on,but the exy is still driving well no loss of power or engine noise, and it has 182000klm on the odo
So i think i will be going back to toyota,s 2nd car is a corona with 480000 on the clock just keeps on going

That certainly is something to be concerned about.
1 litre per 300kms is a lot of oil.
