Well it's fun for kids to get zapped!
I get it occasionally. Mainly when the weather is dry. Makes a huge difference. Fortunately, its humid most of the time in Australia. It's only in the Winter that I notice the zaps. I just use the back of my hand to push the doors shut. It's less of a shock. That or I poke the car door with my key (holding the plastic bit) and that discharges me.
But for fun... do it at night and see how much of an arc you can get out of it.

Here is another rumour line for those car review writers which they can add to their list of "myths" about the xtrail in the coming car review articles 
THE X-TRAIL IS ZAPPING PEOPLE. BE WARE! Choose another SUV for your own safety hehehehe

It looks very nice, however I would be very concerned about the heat generated from the exhaust tips which will melt the black plastic shield you have decided to drill.
