Re: Exhaust System Upgrades (aftermarket)

Hi all,

One of my rare posts, but thought it may be of interest to some.
Recently installed the Hi Tech cat back system, on the T30ti. The rear muffler had corroded internally, and was rattling, and the cost of the Nissan one compared to the cat back system, made it a no brainer. You also gain a large increase in the departure angle, as a result of the removal of the standard 20ltr drum. This is not very scientific, but a before and after comparison is possible over familiar roads, with the same load. The low down torque has increased significantly, worth about one gear on well known rises with the caravan following (1400kg approx), sounds sweet also. Fuel consumption comparison is more difficult as other factors can affect it, but it has not changed to any extent that I have noticed. This is a highly recommended upgrade for anyone replacing the standard muffler, and the quality of the system is outstanding.

Good stuff Pete. That is exactly the reason we chose Hi-Tech Mufflers as our partners. They offer the VERY best with proven results!

Sure the system is not cheap, but for the quality and performance gains it offers, not to mention the 10 years warranty it carry's, it is worth every cent.

Re: Exhaust System Upgrades (aftermarket)

Purchased an aftermarket muffler this week. I went for a straight through stainless steel, with twin outlet pipes. The pipes come out closer together than the high tech system, as they relocated the canaster. I got the work done at 'the muffler man' in Melbourne (Vic), they specialize in custom systems. The tips are Bosal, which cost $120 each, but they do look good.

I wasn't expecting anything spectacular in performance gains, but I was greatly surprised. Heaps more torque, revs out to 6,200 before changing (auto, prior to this change occured around 5,800 to 6,000). The system is louder, but not by a huge amount. On the freeway with the windows up, there is no noticable difference. The 'muffler man' supplied me with the option to come back within a month to make it louder or quieter free of charge. I am happy (I should say my wife is happy) with the sound, so I won't be going back. Muffler comes with 10 year warranty.

I will try and post some pictures in the near future.

Does HiTech have any connections with people in Canada? or recommend something to what they have?

Hi Mike,

No, Hi-Tech has no presence in Canada but we have shipped the Hi-Tech system to a couple of Canadian x-trail owners and they were over the moon with it.
