Re: Hi-Tech X-Trail Extractors/Headers & Full Exhaust System

hey all, just for anyone that interested i was in at the RTA doing a course and we used my xtrail to do a dummy inspection (they said they wouldnt defect the car if they found anything wrong hahah). they did a dB test on the car with the full hightech system (and my cosmo CAI) i held it at 4,000rpm for about 5 seconds and it reached 79.6dB (legal limit on a car made after 1 JAN 1889 is 90dB) so its legal, but then i gave it a quick stomp peeking at about 4,500 and it reach 83.7dB. just thought id let everyone know. also my car passed with all the mods i have so that was good to hear hahah.

Re: Hi-Tech X-Trail Extractors/Headers & Full Exhaust System

Good to hear Taylor,

Hi-Tech did advise me previously that their system passed dB compliance with no problems at all.

In fact they told me that the xtrail system is one of the very quiet ones they have ever produced.

I reckon the excess noise level at 4,500RPM is coming from the CAI just like mine and I love it LOL emoticon

Good to hear that we enjoy the roar of our engine and it is all legal emoticon

Re: Hi-Tech X-Trail Extractors/Headers & Full Exhaust System

Hi,

The 2005 Ti-L Exy I'm purchasing has twin pipes from HiTech Mufflers.

As I don't have the car yet I can't tell what Cat is on it or the whole setup. Just know it has the twin bullet pipes with the cat in the centre (doesn't look like a towbarcould be mounted without alteration to the exhaust.

My question is, if this was fitted when the vehicle was near new, what was the standard that HiTech were using for Exys in 2005?

Re: Hi-Tech X-Trail Extractors/Headers & Full Exhaust System

It doesn't sound like a Hi-Tech system because we made sure that the exhaust system supplied and manufactured by Hi-Tech was suitable for xtrails with and without a towbar.

There are many copies of the Hi-Tech system out there or at least "el cheapo" attempts at having it copied.

Have a look at the muffler under the car, all Hi-Tech mufflers are stamped with the company name on it.

The high flow cat. will only be fitted as part of the whole exhaust system replacement, so if the extractors are not replaced, you don't have the high flow cat. either.

Hi Guys,

Just a reminder to those of you approaching Hi-Tech Mufflers directly and by-passing me in the process with requests to purchase bits and pieces of the Hi-Tech system to plug into some aftermarket set-ups and copies that you may have on your car.

Hi-Tech will NOT sell you their system in bits and pieces, you either buy the whole system from Hi-Tech or you don't and there is no other way of buying it. That is exactly why Hi-Tech are able to offer 10 years warranty on their system because they know exactly how it performs and also know each component used. They will NOT agree to have their system used with some other cheap products because not only it may impact on performance but also because the system may no longer be compliant as a result.

Got the new Twins installed recently.
Well ... where to begin

Hope I didn't overdo the photoshoot emoticon

All I can say is this is one really nice mod for the Exy ... the power is good, it's good good, better than good good. Nice sound, sort of reminds me of an old '76 model Celica straight six. Comforting gurgle when foot is released from accelerator pedal, meaty mid range torque and sound. Oh its shiny too ...

Going for the ECU reset this weekend where the ECU should learn the new exhaust pretty much straight away. In the meantime I'm just letting the seals and joins break in and cat to acclimatise.
Jalal wanted me to post in this thread with the new twins installed. Itsa niiice emoticon
I recommend all Exies get this mod done you'll be grinning a lot.

I think your photos of the twins are better than any of the ones previously used on the forum!

Drooling!
