Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Hi Guys,
We just came back from the dyno place.
The T31 CVT Petrol has managed to get a max of 82.9KW at the wheels out of the reported by Nissan 126KW at the flywheel which is not bad considering the T30 ATW figure was about 72KW for the Series II (which had 123KW at the flywheel)
The torque reading is much higher than expected at 251Nm compared to the factory reported figure of 226Nm.
I am a bit skeptical about the torque reading however as the dyno place run into problems with ESP engaging with CVT T31 and it has been confirmed by the dyno place that pushing the ESP button does NOT fully disengage ESP. They had to manually remove the ABS fuse to get a proper dyno reading.
They also confirmed that CVTs behavior on the dyno was erratic and un-stable which made dynoing the CVT T31 more difficult than the manual diesel but they got there at the end.
Stay tuned for further updates at the end of October regarding power and torque gains with the Hi-Tech system

Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Won't this "inconsistency" on the dyno mean results which will be not as accurate or believable as any other Xtrail models ?

Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Nope Kev, it won't if the same dyno will be used to measure the CVT T31 after the exhaust system is fitted, as the method of dynoing it will be exactly the same as today.
Plus, you can't compare the diesel to petrol anyway. Two different cars all together.

Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Was it the same dyno as when you did your T30 ?
If not, then we can't really compare the T31 petrol figures to what your got either.

Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Kev,
I think I was very clear in my T31 diesel report when I mentioned that dynopack was used to dyno the T31s and yes, it is indeed different to the conventional dyno method we used for the T30 models. I don't think am gonna try and get Hi-Tech to dyno all T30s all over again since the gains were calculated using exactly the same dyno for the T30, so consistency is there.
The figures comparison I provided in my last between the T31 petrol CVT auto and the T30 petrol auto, was just for illustration purposes to show the loss in the drive-train between the 2 different automatic transmissions (much less with the CVT compared to the standard auto box)....nothing more.

Re: T31 Exhaust upgrade
Hi Guys,
Lachlan and I will be heading to Bathurst on Tuesday 17th to get the CVT Petrol T31 exhaust system done. This will include the design of the full system (with extractors) and the cat. back system.
I will report back after we do the dyno run when we get back to Sydney.
