Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
Cam,
The newer model xtrails from 2006 and up have two O2 sensors and you could have requested the shop you bought it from to cover the extra O2 sensor hole for you or weld it up. It can be covered with a bolt going through the threaded hole of the O2 sensor.
Your O2 sensor needs to measure the temperature of the entire engine block, as such it needs to go on the pipes coming from cylinders 2 and 4 (depending on the configuration of the headers like 4-2-1) In your case and since they're 4-1 configuration, you would use the O2 sensors position where all pipes join into one.
Are the headers stainless steel or mild steel?

Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
Gday Cam,
I would (depending on the material) Mig/Tig etc weld up/ seal cylinder 3 position and run with the O2 position in the main body of the extractors, as Jalal suggested. You might need to extend the wiring to the sensor once the extractors are in, so you can install it the sensor lower down the manifold... if need be. Thats bugger all
Do the OBX come with a CAT, or is it straight through the down pipe and out?
Cheers

Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
Cam,
If they're stainless steel AND ceramic coated then it's a winner, but if they're not ceramic coated then you gonna have to do something about that before fitting them cause the heat they generate will be unbelievable and will impact your fuel economy.
Am not sure about the size of the O2 sensor hole. When you get it you'll be able to match it up.
Glad you liked the eyelids.

Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
this should work HERE . its a bung with an allen key head (you wont need the threaded piece). should be about $20 cos i couldnt find them in aussie ebay. or the next thing is use those thread measurements and go to a bolt shop and buy the same thing for cheaper.

Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
I justed checked the OBX headers and they're definitely not ceramic coated and I advise you to stay clear from the using that wrapping crap on the headers as it will crack them. Get the job done properly right from the start so you don't have to worry about any headaches later on because removing and fitting the extractors in place is one hell of a job.

Re: Aftermarket headers - 2nd O2 sensor hole coverup
One solution might be to get some mounting points tig/mig welded onto the headers for the original heatshield.
