Re: Air intake design

Yes Brett, we and the Spec-V can use exactly the same CAI.

Our fender being deeper is actually better for the CAI, as it will sit higher than the Sentra. Still not high enough to forget the by-pass valve emoticon

Well, I thought the same, until I was floored by this reply from Nismo.

Brett,

The Nismo CAI is designed to fit the Spec-v it will not fit the X-trail not even close.

Re: Air intake design

Brett,

I have never seen a NISMO CAI fitted to an xtrail, but I was talking about the 3 other brands I mentioned, in particular the HotShot one where the guys from Canada ordered the one for SpecV and it fitted perfectly on the exy.

Maybe you should ask NISMO what is the difference between the two CAIs, if both cars share exactly the same engine and if they have one specific for the xtrail which they can show you.

No, I specified the 2.5L petrol engine, same as the Nissan Spec-V.

It has left me scratching my head thats for sure.

I'd challenge them about it if I was you, because it doesn't make sense at all, unless they don't know what an xtrail is emoticon

Re: Air intake design

I have sent back another email, detailing how AEM and COSMO RACING use the same CAI for the Sentra SpecV and also the X-Trail.

I will let you know their response. But a snorkle would be nicer.

I wonder if the difference might be in the length of the pipe that goes from the right side of the MAF to the air filter which ultimately exits thru the fender well ??

I do suspect that the engine cavity in the
X-T is somewhat different from the Spec V.

Because it's the same engine, it would seem reasonable that the 3" pipe to the left of the MAF would be the same.....

I bought a Cosmo CAI (not yet installed) and it was X-T specific.

BTW, the Cosmo brand is not a Canadian Manufacturer - their home base is (you guessed it) in the good 'ol USA - - they do have a Canadian distributor in Montreal and that's where I got mine (no hassel with shipping, duty, etc.)

Cheers
