Re: Air intake design & modifications

Question on the K&N filter... seeing it is sucking air from the bottom as well as the side, I notice when I put back the shord the hole that the filter will be getting air from the bottom is about 3cm diam, should we not make it bigger so that the filter can take advantage of the air flow????

I kept looking for a photo of it all day yesterday trying to show it to Mike, but I couldn't find it. Let me do a bit more digging, but the only place to get it from is Japan.

Mike: Am not sure I understand what you mean.

I figure it didn't make sense so here is the pic... from the ground up you can see the hole... I stuck my finger in it and the filter just got a fraction of it... so I am not sure it getting all the air it should get...

There is a rectangle area that could be used as a cut away....

Hope this is clearer

Thanks for the pic, it does make sense now emoticon

The final position of your filter is different than mine because you shortened the CAI pipe by 5cm as you mentioned. Half of the base of my filter is exposed and I can clearly see it when I look from under the car, but even in your case, you should not worry about lack of air getting to the filter as it will be getting it from the sides and the front. That whole area under the fender is exposed to air circulation when the car is moving. In fact, with your filter being fully covered by the inner plastic guard, it will stay cleaner for longer.

Well if that little rod holder comes of Japan... it's not like I have imported stuff from all over the world, paying all kind of taxes, it goes with the territory... a country that got ****squat... emoticon

Re: Air intake design & modifications

Sorry Mike I don't. I got this through a friend in Japan years ago and since I fitted the bonnet struts and had no use for it, I sent it to Marc (Valboo) in Canada as a gift a couple of years ago.
