Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
Couldn't you install Win98 onto it? It might need a bigger hard drive as well

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
Try Uprev Cipher: UPREV Cipher page
This software (and hardware) costs money, but gives all readings available AND (here's the BIGGY) it can clear all learned settings, set target idle rpm, release fuel pressure (for fuel system service) and change timing advance plus more. Check the features for more.
This stuff sounds pretty good, except I haven't worked up the courage (or funds) to buy it. Since our Xtrail is standard we probably don't really need it.... (who am I kidding!)

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
Shawn,
Good find, but
quote:
Will Cipher work on other vehicles?
Cipher has been tested on the 350Z, G35 Coupe, Titan and Altima SE-R, including 2006. Cipher may work on other Nissan’s but until testing has been completed, we cannot guarantee what will or will not function. Attempting to use Cipher on non-tested vehicles is not recommended and the user does so at their own risk.
Had they included the Sentra Spec-V in that list, it would have been good news for xtrailers.

I already have a USB to OBDII cable, will it work with Cipher?
No. Cipher's hardware interface is much more than just wire connections and isolation. Cipher's software will only work through Cipher's hardware interface.
For that kind of money you better be sure it'll work with the exy.
I also don't like their incompatibility with other software, which seems a bit fishy.

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
Hi Guys,
I can now confirm that the gadget I used with my exy to read the ECU, is NOT compatible with Series II ECU.
I have just done the test on Adam's exy and no reading can be taken from his Series II.

Looks that way and if you talk to it nicely, it may give you the ECU readings on a cashiers print-out LOL

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
Something I found as an update for this thread.
CarChip OBDII Data Logger
Last page of documentation lists protocols supported but could not find what the ConsultII protocol is in the ESM.

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers
While on a trip to the USA I came across a "Pepboys" (like our "SuperCheap Autos" stores) brochure which had an "ACTRON" OBD-II reader for sale for a riduculously low price. It turns out it's a superceded model, and I couldn't tell if it would be compatible with our ECU (and I wasn't going to spend a heap of money to find out that it didn't!).
http://www.actron.com is their website. The PepBoys brochure states the (I can't remember the model number but I couldn't find it on the Actron website, thus the assumed "superceded model" I mentioned earlier) sells for US$139.99 and on special for $109.98 (then another $20 off with mail-in rebate).
http://www.pepboys.com might have a downloadable brochure...
