Re: Intake butterflies opening when on boost/WOT?
I actually think that the butterflies (or VIAS) will be made unnecessary with your turbo installation Cam. You may actually be better disconnecting it altogether. What have the sentra guys done ?
I posted something about the way the VIAS works but cannot find it.
It you are interested in knowing more, let me know and I'll look into it again.

I'd think taking them out, even with a turbo, will give you worse low down performance than leaving them in. I'd probably just disable them from opening.

Re: Intake butterflies opening when on boost/WOT?
I'd agree with you Shawn.
The VIAS works by having different "tuned" lengths of intake runner for different airflows so that the pulses of air pressure created as each valve shuts helps this small air pressure pulse "force-feed" air into the next cylinder. A shorter length equates to shorter pulse intervals, typically at higher rpm's.
So if the butterflies are left open, then the length of the intake runners will be shorter which will be more tuned for higher rpm's and effect the low rpm performance when the turbo has not spooled up yet.
