Replacement Brakes
Hi Guys,
Has any of you replaced their front brake pads yet? and if yes, which ones did you choose?
I think I'm very close to have my brake pads replaced, as I could hear the hissing sound when I brake hard and I've done 40K on mine.
I hate the factory brakes because of the amount of dust they produce which turns the front wheel into a black mess.
I'm therefore thinking of buying the EBC brakes called the 6000 series (Green Stuff) Part Number DP61247 Heavy duty, low dust which is specifically made for the X-Trail instead of buying the nissan ones from the dealer.
I have found the EBC selling in Melbourne for $144/set but they're also available to buy in other States (including Sydney)
Check the EBC Brakes Australia to find your local stockists.
Any suggestions? Is the above price O.K. compared to the nissan brakes?

Re: Replacement Brakes
Hi Guys,
Just called nissan asking for a price of the front brake pads and was quoted $130.95, so I guess the above price IS reasonable.

Just to let you know that EBC Brakes Australia web site is now fully operational and includes all stockist in each state.
http://www.ebcbrakes.com.au/
The X-Trail is not currently listed there, but will be shortly as confirmed by the company.
The part number for the front brake pads is as indicated in my previous post.

Re: Replacement Brakes
Hi Guys,
My front brakes went "kaput" yesterday.
No warning or squeeking sounds or anything like that which I used to get with my Camry.
This one just gave me that grinding noise as if I had no front brake pads and the metal brackets were sliding on the discs.
The car would still brake, but I think only with the help of the rear discs.
The time has come to replace them with the EBC GreenStuff brakes which I purchased earlier this year.

Re: Replacement Brakes
Hi Jalal,
Is the price $144 for set of 2 or 4 pads?

Hi Matt,
It's for a set of 4 (2 on each front wheel).

Re: Replacement Brakes
Hey Jalal,
Yes i had to replace mine - at the service i was told by Nissan that my front pads were extremely low and that i should consider buying new ones soon. They were even starting to squeel as i was coming to a stop.
I was too busy and uninterested to look for non-Nissan ones so i got the genuine ones which, from memory, cost me all up about $180.00 fitted. They are good, no more squeels and not too much brake dust in my opinion, but then again i don't have alloys (which attract more dust on the outer rims).
Cheers, Matt

Re: Replacement Brakes
Hi Matt (Canberra)
Rich will be giving me a helping hand to replace my brake pads this afternoon, so we'll see how we go and let you guys know.
Maybe we can create a DIY for brake pads replacement from todays exercise. We'll see
The only reason I did not favour the genuine nissan ones, was because of the amount of brake dust the generate and my front alloys are always black.
$180 is not too bad, considering nissan is selling the front pads for $135 (supply only)
