 X-Trail Strut Bar
Hi Guys,
Anyone thought about fitting a strut bar to their exy and if yes, is there any that are available in Australia?
The benefit of the strut bar is when you drive into a turn, your chassis flexes due to its size and weight. This prevents the suspension and steering from doing their job properly. With the addition of chassis braces/strut bar, the car is stiffened and responds to your steering more predictably.
Our friends in Malaysia are satrting to fit sturt bars to their exy's and it seems the feedback is positive thus far.

Yep I'm interested but I am not exactly sure how it works with the other stabilising bars and what Nissan would say about it ?

It would not impact any other stabilising bars, but would give an added stability to the exy.

Never heard of such a thing, but it makes sense. I’d be interested in finding out more on this product as well.
And yes, I’d like to know what Nissan would say about this as well. Could it cause problems in perhaps voiding warranty? Maybe I’m being too sceptical?
It looks to me to be a bit more than just an accessory item.
I’ll do some searching around for one.

By the time I find, buy and fit one, I'll be out of warranty anyway 
I can't see how an added structural strength part could affect the warranty. You're not replacing anything with this bar.

I can see the benefits in having one installed. I doubt it would void your warranty.
However it would just give Nissan an excuse not to repair something.
You may have:
1. Faulty front suspension?
2. Uneven tyre wear?
3. Excessive brake wear?
4. 4wd system overheating?
5. And the list goes on
These are all caused by your installed strut bar. We won’t cover that now!!
See what I mean. That’s just if your unlucky and have an unfortunate problem.
They might have them standard on the Subaru, but they are not standard on the X-Trail so there is a difference here.
You might say refitting heavy duty shocks would be similar. This is upgrading an existing feature. But if you decided to put in leaf springs somehow, I think there might be a problem?
Although, I will be hypocrite, I would install one on mine.

My pulsar SSS had one standard... I know of a couple of other pulsars that have had a rear strut brace installed (runs across the inside of the boot and looks more like a short roll cage) and another one with a lower front strut brace (instead of on top of the strut towers, it's underneath the car, very close to the road).
I'm guessing pricing would be upwards of $500 as I imagine it would need to be custom-made (or ordered from overseas). There might be a slim chance that the X-Trail engine bay (and therefore strut towers) are identical to the Almera's, in which case we still wouldn't have any locally available, but they'd be alot more common overseas...

I don't know about availability, but I'd imagine Nissan would have little or no problem with you adding one:
Up here in Canada, Strut bars are common on most modified sport compact cars, and they're actually offered by Nismo and other OEM aftermarket (MazdaSpeed, GM Goodwrench, Spoon/Honda Racing, MOPAR, etc) providers.
I've yet to find anything like that on this side of the Pacific for the XTrail, though.

I also think these would not affect the warranty, as you're actually reinforcing the structure of the car to avoid potential damage.
I have found them selling in Malaysia, but because of their size, postage is a killer.
