Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust
It's probaby a good time to raise this, but in Australia you will need to get an engineers report after fitting different brakes calipers. Even though they might improve your braking the "smart" coppers will defect you without a engineers ticket!
From memory, a engineers report for brake changes cost about $250.
Of course you could run the risk, but don't say I didn't warn you.
(From one who has been caught!!)

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust
Andrew,
How can they tell???
My calipers are red now (which is not standard) I hope they're not gonna pull me over and ask for this sertificate to be produced approving the colour change?
Is there a written law about this somewhere?

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust
Jalal,
One of the lesser reasons I sold my WRX was the amount of times I got pulled over for "a routine inspection". I got fed up with the hassle, thus the Xtrail. Any mods I do now are going to be:
a. within the law and
b. not Bluey attracting.
I know the Exy won't attract the eyes of the law as much as a WRX, but they do still check. I got pulled over in my stock Falcon the other day for "a routine inspection". Go figure!

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust
Fully agree with you Andrew.
I actually got pulled over in my exy by an RBT and they decided to do the full check, was given verbal notice about the washer nozzles with LED I have and got asked to turn them off. That was quite a while ago and I now have them hooked up to the fog lights.
I'm not sure how they can tell that the calipers are upgraded or standard? Do they carry a service manual for every car with them or something?

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust
I have just asked a mate about his stainless steel braided brake lines with multicolour sheath that he supplies he says there the best and cheapest upgrade you can do. It might change pedal height but in time you become acoustom to it and you get better stopping power out of the same amount of force applied to the pedal as before the line change and there would be hundreds of ADR compliant places to do this across the state as the cable is ADR compliant and the machine that crimps them is a certified device and a pressure tester as well. In saying that Ive never had any problems with my brakes.
