Re: Leaking Rear Shocks
It's taken SEVEN weeks to get a response. Worst customer service in the history of the world. And the answer was that it won't be covered under warranty. In those SEVEN weeks, I've received two letters asking to extend my warranty. They have to be kiddng themselves.

Joel, I'd be asking for a reason why they are not covered under warranty. I am aware of the disclaimers Nissan have regarding warranty, but I would think they would be required to prove that the aftermarket components (springs in your case) contributed to the shortened life of the shocks. If anything, I would've expected stiffer springs to reduce overall shock travel, and thus increase the life of the shocks, not the other way around! At least there would be less shock piston area exposed to dust than if you had factory springs...

Re: Leaking Rear Shocks
They can be funny buggers Nissan. By law they don't have to cover your shocks because you have the taller coils, and taller coils mean more work for the shocky.
If you had the same aftermarket sized coils as the standard ones, then the shocks' travel would be the same as standard length, then Nissan have no argument.

Re: Leaking Rear Shocks
For those unhappy XTrailers who have been unfairly treated by Nissan or their Nissan Dealers. Phone 1800035053. Nissan Customer Relations Dept. State your case to a Manager.
Get them to admit or blame the springs in writing and then approach the springs manufacturer and tell them that their product just voided your warranty. Let them head-but each other!

Ah, but the spring manufacturers are likely to have a disclaimer stating that their products "may" void manufacturer's warranty, and also probably state "for off-road use only" implying they're not likely to be legal to use on-road

Re: Leaking Rear Shocks
If that is the case Rich, it's a risk the owner decides to take and Nissan will have every right to refuse warranty.
