posticon Warranty Repairs

Any one else had warranty repairs?
Had windscreen resealed to fix leak 1000km

after approx 35,000km our auto box was hunting between 1st and 2nd when slowly climbing hills, on road. Oil change in box solved problem. 40,000k

Car refused to start on several occasions after 40k service. Faulty solonoid on starter motor found to be problem 43,000km

All problems fixed by dealer with no fuss and loan vehicle provided when repairs took more than 1 day.

Minor issues still a great car

Darryl

Re: Warranty Repairs

Had nothing go wrong yet, and now just clocked over the 65,000 km.

In that time, its never seen a Nissan mechanic. Previously it was a government car, so they had their own mechanics, and since i've had it, I take it to my local one who is one of those rare 'good/honest' mechanics around. Not taking it back to Nissan doesnt effect the warranty.

Speaking to various other people, I estimate I save a good $200 per service, or there abouts.

Re: Warranty Repairs

My last service was under $100. But other new car owners seem to pay around $300+ for servicing, which seems a rip off when you consider its a new car, and nothing should be going wrong that early.

Sounds like you got a good one there. IMO once you find a good mechanic, stick to them. Although the local guys I go to seemed to look the Xtrail over very keenly the first time i took it to them, like they hadnt seen one before! emoticon

I have to take mine into the local Nissan dealer for the recall job within the next few weeks, so we'll see if they try any "value adding" to the job.

Re: Warranty Repairs

Can any body tell me what it cost to service at say 20.000kolos at a nissan dealer. My first service cost $160 and i thought that was too dear but talking to other people it seams reasonable.I have been told to go to pedders in the latrobe valley and have been quoted under $100 Has any body tried repco service centres. If i get it done at pedders do you think i should get them to use say a geniume oil filter.which nissan charges$21 and ryco $14.Mine has 40-0 mobile 1 oil installed at the dealer. What do you use in yours duxbac

Re: Warranty Repairs

Yep - usually around the $180 mark.

Can anyone tell me if they've had to replace the brake pads? I'm a tick over 42000k's. I give the brakes a good going - because they aren't bad for a car that size emoticon At my last service I asked them to check them, and they said they were fine! I'd be expecting them to require a change sometime soon! I mean... Its nearly time for new tires!!!

Re: Warranty Repairs

We have a few things to be remidied at the 30,000 service being:

1. Carpet comes away from front kickpanels both sides. (every X-Trail I look at suffers the same)
2. LH dash airvent fin broken. (dash out job)
3. Rust spots on Chrome tail pipe extension.
4. Headlight cover retaining screws no longer have thread. (screws to small)
5. Rear tail gate weather strip torn.
6. Interior light switch (on door) rubber boots torn.
7. Removable luggage board glue-on plastic strips lifting.
That's about it I think.

Re: Warranty Repairs

I just had a rattle in the muffler fixed - they didn't stuff around - just replaced it same day. Must be a common problem like the squeek from the back end. That was at about 50000k's.

Re: Warranty Repairs

Hi Guys,

Looking at what you're paying for your warranty service at the various nissan dealers, I think I'm getting ripped-off quite bad by nissan-Sutherland.

I paid the following:

1K service (free of charge and a loan car)
10K service $215.20 (paid for a loan car)
20K service $310.55 (didn't ask for a loan car anymore) emoticon
30K service $313.55

It seems the warranty repair price is going up with the number of KM's travelled, onlt at nissan-Sutherland, the price is going-up much faster.

I don't think I'll be taking my xtrail there again.

Richi: How does Nissan Rockdale prices compare to the above?
