Re: Non Nissan servicing??

Just rang Nissan to see what type of discount was offered if I supplied all the oils. They stated that they will only allow customers to supply the engine oil and plugs. I was also told that my car does not need the radiator flush due to it being a new engine.

I have checked the service manual to see what is involved in the 80,000km service and it appears to be a total flush out of oils and lubricants, plugs, filters etc. There seems to be a few different variations of what is involved in the 80k service, but obviously it is a main one.

Ultratune will allow me to supply all fluids (radiator, brake, engine, transmission, diffs and transfer), oil filter and plugs and will also fit my slotted discs for a total price between $350 and $400, depending on the time taken to fit the discs. (I tried fitting them myself but could not budge the inside bolts in the caliper assembly). Considering that I got all these oils for dirt cheap, I want to use mine and not the overly priced dealer oils. I also got the Nissan radiator fluid too for next to nothing.

Can anyone tell me what else in involved in the 80k service. Anyone have an invoice showing work done by Nissan.

Bathurst Nissan will do the Consult ECU check/upgrade for free next time I am in the area. Now that's service.

Brett,

Have a look at the Nissan service schedule in the Technical section of our main site and it will tell you exactly what needs to be done under the 80K service. This is a major service, so you should get the ECU pluged-in to Consult for software updates, so don't delay this after you do the Ultratune service.

Re: Non Nissan servicing??

I have been told by Ulra Tune that "while they dont have Consult, they do have a diagnostic computer that can do everything". This doesnt really gel with what I have read, and was curious about other peoples experiences. Any side effects?
The physical side of servicing I am not phased about (I have used them before on other cars and rate them) , however the "computer" side of it I am curious. Is there a marked difference between aftermarket and Nissan...for a series 1 T30?
cheers in advance emoticon

Ultratune and others won't have access to the Nissan software updates, only Nissan has this and while their diagnostic computer will tell them what's wrong, they won't be able to fix it if it required a software update to be done through the ECU. There are many ECU DIY diagnostic kits out there that can easily tell what's wrong and give you the error codes.

Hi All

Has anyone had their T31 Serviced by Ultra Tune?? While under new car warranty.

I used them a few times for my previous car (1996 Toyota Corolla) but now I have a much nicer and much newer car I'm wanting to look after it and make sure it gets the right treatment by the mechanic....Not due for a service for a while but just thought I would throw the question out there.

I am going to give them a go for my 40k service.
Not only are they less than half the price of a Nissan service, but they also follow the service manual.
They also said that they will wash and re-oil the K & N filter for me.

I will let you know how they did when it gets done in about 500kms.

I had the Xy serviced at Penrith Ultra Tune this afternoon for my 40000km.
From booking the car 1 hour prior to servicing, to picking it up was a joy compared to Nissan, nothing but personalised service.

They did the Hand book service which included,

2.1 hrs labour.
4.6 litres of Valvoline SM-5W30 oil.
Oil filter.
Servic to the K & N air filter, clean and re-oil.
Replace the brake fluid.
Tune up.
ECU reset.
Throttle body service.
Adjust hand brake. ( which has never been this good )

All for a price of $300 which included removing the bash plate as well.
A big thumbs up for the guys there. emoticon

They saved me $350 on the Nissan service.

For some reason the car feels more perky than it usually does when it gets serviced from Nissan. emoticon

Can't complain about that.
