Squeaky Clutch

Has anyone come across a squeaky clutch...? It isn't a clunk kind of noise it is definitely just squeaky. I have used dry grease on it previously but it's still there.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

You may have a problem with your slave cylinder.

I damaged mine during my CAI install and ended up with a squeaky clutch.

Maybe what you need is new rubber seals and a change of brake fluid in your clutch system.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

Thanks for the info but the thing I don't understand is that the squeak only happens when you push the clutch in and its coming from inside the gear box. If you look at the gear box there is a square piece of rubber and a rod that goes through it. That's the best way that I can explain it. Any ideas?

Re: Squeaky Clutch

Try some rubber grease on the rod to see if it helps. It may be this rubber square that is rubbing (squeaking) as the rod moves one way.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

Hi, my clutch has just begun to do the same thing! The squeak appears to be coming from under the little rubber seal where the bit thing enters the gear box housing. It only happens when you depress the clutch. Please forgive my technical terms. I have attempted to rectify it the traditional way - lever the seal aside and squirt in a liberal amount of WD-40 so will see if that helps. Just wondering if the deep water crossing last year may have seen a drop or three of north west aqua make it's way in. Have looked at the X-trail bible but can't make out what lies beneath the dust seal.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

Been there - done that!

Our clutch got squeeky a while ago and I had to do the WD40 thing down the fork, which fixed it for a while. I think it's starting to come back. If WD40 doesn't fix it then time for new clutch since the gearbox would have to come out.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

The WD-40 did it! Nice and smooth and squeak free. Hopefully it will last.

Re: Squeaky Clutch

A silicone spray will last a lot longer than WD-40.
Good for door hinges as well.
