posticon Driver Seat Squiek

Ok guys,

My driver seats squeaks and it is driving me nuts. Like from and old armchair or something.

This is its not all the time, seems to be when I am sitting a certain way (which is comfortable for me) and it does not have to be a bumpy road or anything, although it was squeaking last weekend when we were off road.

Now its pretty embarrassing when the car is only a year old.

Has anybody else had this problem? and what did you do?

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

Paul,

I think the squeak is coming from the seat belt buckle, mine has done that for a while when it was new and then stopped. Try spraying the inside of that buckle with WD40 and see what happens.

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

Paul,

I have EXACTLY the same issue with my ST - S Extreme. The driver seat squeaks every once and a while and nothing I do seems to fix it. Nissan couldn't fix it either...cause it didn't do it when it was in for service.

Mine started when it was about 6 months old, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. I'm trying to live with it. My solution....turn up the music louder or open the sunroof and let in the wind noise. emoticon

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

Hey Dave,

Funny that, mine is an ST-S Xtreme aswell.

As suggested by Jalal I sprayed some WD-40 into the gap where the seatbelt catch is and it seems to have stopped, according to my wife who has had the car all week.

I will be doing two long trips at the weekend so should be able to confirm.

Try the WD-40 though, if the squeek has stopped, as my wife says I will be pretty happy about it.

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

My ST-S has the same squeaks from driver's seatbelt buckle, especially when driving over uneven or bumpy surfaces.

Nissan services tried to fix it twice without permanent success. I WD40 inside the buckle and nearby assemblies but it only last couple of weeks. So I just WD40 the whole thing every now and then; it is becoming a part of routine maintenance. I am starting to wonder if mine was built just outside the acceptable tolerance.

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

Ok Guys......you convinced me. Mine sounds more like it's coming from the springs in the seat itself, but I'm going to go the WD40 trick and see what happens!!!

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

Yes Dave,

I was convinced it was the springs too. (underneath my left ass cheek)

I figured it was going to be a warranty job and a new driver seat.

But it seems that it was the bit where the buckle joins the seat

Re: Driver Seat Squiek

I had exactly the same problem.
Took two visits to two different dealers to get it fixed.

It worked out to be where the seat belt buckle stalk attaches to the seat, on the left side of the drivers seat.
The solution was to lubricate it.
Havn't heard a squeak since!
