Rear passenger door lock malfunction

 emoticon
Taking my Exie into the dealers tomorrow to get rear right hand door lock repaired. When the car is unlocked and the door opened the door will not lock until the remote is used a couple of times. Locked it tonight and then unlocked it and the door remained locked. Coming back from the tip yesterday the door flew open on the first left hand corner. I had opened the door and unknown to me when I shut the door it did not latch. It had to wait till my warranty rang out to play up. Will post the result of the repair when job is done. Out of time to look at it myself as we are heading to the mainland next week.

David

Re: Rear passenger door lock malfunction

Sound like a mechanical problem with the latch rather than an electrical problem with the locking switch.

WD40 might have solved that emoticon

Hi Jalal

Tried WD 40 a couple of times without removing covers, running out of time so will see what the experts can do.

Cheers David

Re: Rear passenger door lock malfunction

There is no need to remove the covers, you just need to remove the door trim and spray on the mechanism.

Re: Rear passenger door lock malfunction

Wd40 could be the answer as the clamp stays in locked position rather than open with the door handle. (sticking)
Either that or the shaft connecting the door handle and the clamping lock is in some way damaged.
Could be that the plastic ends are cracked and this may be why the intermittent operation of the door.

emoticon Just back from having the Xie checked and the problem is a faulty actuator which is being replaced on Tuesday about an hours job.

 emoticon Thanks Jalal and Tony

After getting car back from dealers lock worked OK, sticking far less than it did before, This morning my son and I removed door trim and checked mechanism lubricating lock and lever where it goes through the guide. Works 100 % now. You were right and the dealer wrong. Will cancel new actuator and have more money to spend on mainland trip next week.
Removing trim was not as daunting as I anticipated.
 emoticon David.

Re: Rear passenger door lock malfunction

My drivers door got sticky, at first i though it was the LED kick plates sticking to the bottom of the door, but upon closer inspection the catch was from the door latch.

Gave it a squirt of WD 40 and no problems since.
