Re: Heater unit or blower motor??? Help please

With my electrical background I think it is the Fan Control Amplifier.
The circuit below shows its location in the blower fan circuit.

From this you can see that if you disconnect the controller and the fan keeps running until you unplug the fuses or turn the ignition off, then the Amplifier must be failed in a short-circuit so that the fan runs full-speed at full voltage.

Here is the location of the Amplifier

Re: Heater unit or blower motor??? Help please

Kev,

It's the same thing.

STs have the blower fan resistors to control the blower fan speed and Ti's with climate control have the blower fan amplifiers to do the same function. The part numbers are different between the two and the one for the Ti is more expensive than the ST.

P.S. You have already posted exactly the same information in the existing thread the link to which I have already given to Zel. The information is being duplicated and this discussion should have continued in the existing thread.

Re: Heater unit or blower motor??? Help please

Jalal,

They are only the same in as much as they both control the fan speed.
Other than that small similarity, there is a vast difference bewteen the two units.
As you know, the blower fan resistor for the manual aircon is a resistor board with different values to change the voltage to the fan.
The blower fan amplifier for the automatic aircon is a transistor/mosfet which controls the voltage to the blower fan by a voltage suplied from the climate control unit.

If someone went into a Nissan spares department and asked for a blower fan control resistor (as you called it) for a Ti then it could be easy for them to miss the "Ti" and give them the wrong part of a fan control resistor which would not fit or do the correct function.

Hopefully you can understand the importance of using the correct terminology when trying to explain things to people asking for help.

Sorry I did not realise I posted the circuit before as it was a few pages further than the link you directed Zel to.

Re: Heater unit or blower motor??? Help please

Kev,

I know the difference between a resistor and an amplifier Kev, the point of the discussion here is that they both perform the same function and that is controlling the blower fan speed. (depending on the model)

The key is the part number. Surprisingly enough Nissan themselves call it Blower Fan Resistor for BOTH models (ST and Ti), but they do ask you which model you have to give you the correct one.

The link to the part number was given to Zel in my first reply in this thread. It is also the reason I always refer new members to existing topics which has all the needed information already included. Am sure as an existing and long term member you can understand this.

The end result after 2 pages of going backward and forward with this discussion is still pointing to the existing topic of the blower fan.

Thread closed. Please use the existing topic.
