Re: Dash mat

Jalal,

How does the mat go covering the tweeters ?
If there was not some sort of holes in the backing then I would imagine it would muffle and spoil the sound.

Re: Dash mat

Kev,

There are small holes in the mat for the tweeters, but yeah, it does muffle the sound a little bit even with these holes.

Re: Dash mat

As Taque mentioned a few posts ago, it is possible to get a dash mat that covers the entire dash unit, including the glove box and air bag. I have contacting Nissan but they said none of their mats cover the airbag part. I can't see the problem with this part being covered, as the Prado's mat does and it looks better that way.
Has anyone else got a mat that covers the entire dash, where from, part number etc.
Also, what about the area below the display assembly and across to the top of steering wheel, where can this piece be purchased from.
i have tried send taque a pm about this, but no reply.

Re: Dash mat

Brett,

I think it is a safety restriction more than anything else, as the airbag shouldn't be abstracted by anything that will interfere with its operation and deployment.

I had 2 types of dash mats and the first one (from SuperCheap) had a removable piece that covered the airbag. This piece can only be used when the car is parked (not in motion)

As for the lower part of the dash, the series I type comes as a set of 2 dash mats covering the upper and lower parts of the dash. From superCheap as well or buy special order from them (if they don't have it in stock)

Alternatively, try THIS eBay business who seems to have the full dash mat you're looking for as well as the lower portion.

Re: Dash mat

Jalal,
re the safety aspect of the passenger side airbag, the Prado and Pajero's airbag is covered with the same design mat, which has a hinge like your glovebox compartment side. Having a wife with OCD, I thought it would look better if the entire dash was covered, including the two hinges sections. I dont like the look of the solid piece as in your link, but the way 'taque' explained it, that set-up would be ideal. I tried contacting Nissan and they have never heard of such a mat.

my wife does not have OCD, but can be a little pedantic when it comes to the look of 'her' exy.

Re: Dash mat

Brett,

I just got the following email from a user of this exact dash mat (the one from eBay) and this is what he said about it:

quote:

This mat is not solid it has a flap for the glove box and a flap for the airbag which can be removed if you want. I attached the airbag flap on mine with velcro

See photos below of this dash mat, which clearly show the 2 removable sections

They come in grey or black, so you can choose the colour you like.

Re: Dash mat

Thanks mate. I have seen yours and it matches the interior nicely, but was it black or grey. Does the Ebay product have the lower section as well. I also remember you saying that the Ebay one did not fit right, or what they the first one you bought from Autobarn ??

There are several sellers currently selling dashmats, are you able to tell me who this was bought off ?

Re: Dash mat

Brett,

Mine was dark grey. I purchased the upper portion from SuperCheap but it doesn't have the cover for the airbag, so it is open in that section of the dash. The lower part I got from an eBay purchase when I bought another dash mat set (which included the upper and lower sections) I decided only to use the lower portion of it and keep the upper part that I had. I didn't like the idea of covering the airbag. I gave the upper portion of this dash mat to Nath (I think) or to another member of our forum.

The one selling on eBay now has the two sections, but you better confirm that with the seller.
