Just kidding Rich  Sure I did and I think it maybe easier if you actually bring a cardboard with you one day and make a template of my bash plate without taking it of.

That's a good idea Jalal. I'll have to try and find a bit of cardboard now (we've already thrown out (ok, recycled) all our cardboard boxes from the house-move...

I'm also interested in having a bash plate made up. See here for why!
What's the chances of getting ahold of that template? I would be happy to draw up a diagram, if someone can get me the dimensions, and post it here.
I know a few guys up here who are good at metalwork, so i can probably get it made. What's the conclusion, steel or aluminium better? Is there much interest in doing a run of them? I'm sure we could get the cost down to a reasonable amount if there are enough people interested.
If I do end up doing it, I'll document the process thoroughly.

It's raining today and it's my RDO, so I can't start building the pergola (as it's outdoors and I'll get soaking wet!)...
Looks like today will be the perfect opportunity to start on the bash plate!

Hey Rich,
I took my bashplate off last weekend (in preparation for my visit to the dealer earlier this week)
So it's in the garage now and I'll soon be putting it back.
It is the perfect time for you to come around and draw-up a template from it if you like. Just give me a buzz.

I started to make a template out of cardboard but after doing the driver's side I realised I'd have to probably make it in several pieces to be able to make all the bends properly...
I gave up altogether after I couldn't find my old jigsaw with the metal blades...
I've just looked at the photos of when it was on Shane's X-Trail (see this thread: http://com1.runboard.com/baustralianxtrail.fmainchat.t178|offset=30 ) but there were no side-shots to see if it bends around where the original plastic ones go. I guess there's no real need for them to go up the sides - it would just be added weight and more complicated construction.
Jalal, did you have to drill any extra holes and use extra nuts and bolts at the back of it to mount it?
I notice there are little brackets on the front. That's a good idea to avoid making the bend along the bottom at the front, nearest to the driver's wheel.
I also wanted to extend it across to the passenger's side (or have two separate plates) to protect my automatic transmission sump...
After reading through the other thread, I probably should pop into ARB again and ask them if they made up the plate on that X-Trail (or can find out who made it) as they gave me the impression he was a regular customer when I spoke to them about him the first time... Unfortunately I've never seen that X-Trail again since then, even though I go past there all the time.

Yes Rich, one was needed to be drilled to hold the middle bolt with the brakcet. The other 3 bolts fit in the holes that are already there, but Shane's mate made some sort of a long brakcet with a washer at the end which can be slotted and held while I tighten the bolt on the plate itself.
ARB might make them in the future, but I still think that if we get it manufactured through friends it'll cost much less.

Because Shane's exy was manual, this bash plate does not cover my auto transmission sump, so we gonna need to work on 2 templates (manual and auto)
