are there any half barriers floating around?
Or are there any that have clear perspex in the middle so when you look into the rear view mirror your eyes dont go crazy trying to look through the little squares??

Nope it won't. The T31 is a wider car and the attachment points are completely different.

Not AFAIK - the 1/2 barriers are designed to go with the 4wd wagon drawer systems - which doesn't apply to the XTrail.

To be honest - it isn't like that - I have the cargo barrier in mine and you soon don't notice the black mesh. And according to a rellie who drives a work RAV4 with a perspex barrier - as soon as they get scratched, they are much worse than a black steel cargo barrier + reflect light at night badly. He prefers his old Commode wagon with mesh barrier, over the RAV with perspex + mesh barrier (Coke company car issue)......

I had a Nissan (Milford) barrier in my T30 - it was awesome - you could pile heaps more stuff in the boot without the fear of it flying forwards. I thought about it for the T31 - still might do it one day...
You don't notice the grid after a while, i agree that the Perspex is worse, it get trashed.

the 2 company cars that i had both had the full grid metal barrier and when reversing my eyes used to buzz out (maybe its just my eyes - i do wear glasses!).
im actually thinking of just getting a net to hold stuff down, as i dont want something that is always there, thats why i was thinking of a half cage as it could be removed and placed on the floor and not take up too much room.

Smac: Yep i use those ratchet strap things to hold the bulkier items down on my boot. The biggest pain with the cargo barrier was having to pull it out every time you wanted to carry something long.. it didnt happon that often, but when it did it used to annoy me as you would then have to stow it aswell!
I think you can get a cargo net thing from Nissan, id have to check the Online Shop to see if Jalal has them.
