Central Locking

Not sure about the T30 although on the T31 only the driver has the ability to lock all the doors at a flick of a switch. In my pulsar both the driver and passanger had access to lock all doors.

Has anyone added another switch for the passanger to access to be able to lock all the doors?

thanks
Samuel

Re: Central Locking

Hi Samuel,

The T30 is the same, central locking is only on the driver's side door controls.

I liked the way all doors self locked in my Camry when I reached 20kms/hour. I think it's much more practical.

Re: Central Locking

Doesnt exist in the stock T30, if your talking about a front passenger having a central locking switch.
Not a mod I have seen done either.
Cheers

Re: Central Locking

If you press the lock car button on the remote when the key is in the ignition and then unlock on the remote, the doors will lock themselves after about 15 seconds or so every time you unlock the car. Whether you are in the car or not.

It will keep on doing this until you reverse this procedure.

Not too sure if the T30's have this function.

Re: Central Locking

Tony,

This function is available on the T30 but it will only work if you pressed the unlock button on the remote and didn't open any of the doors, only then the doors will self lock after a certain period of time.

Re: Central Locking

Maybe I need 2 b clearer. Each time we r driving we always lock the doors so that no one can open the doors when we have stopped at a set of lights. I know a couple of people who gave had their bags/laptops taken while at set of lights.

I guess it's easier if the passanger can also lock the doors while the car is moving

is the current switch in the car to lock the doors is run by 2 wires (+ & -)? Maybe I can splice into the wires on the arm rest & place another switch in the centre console or something

Re: Central Locking

I understood your question Samuel and I think you can easily splice into the wiring of the main door lock control switch and extend the wires from the driver's door to the dash somewhere (closer to the passenger).

I on the other hand liked the doors self-lock feature that was in the Camry which is linked to the speed sensor, so am gonna explore that a bit more.

EDIT: Found a circuit for the auto self-lock linked to the speed sensor HERE. How about it Kev? emoticon

Re: Central Locking

I also found a ready made auto door lock kit HERE

And HERE is the wiring and operational manual for it.

Sounds exactly what I am looking for to achieve central locking of all doors when reaching a certain speed.

Re: Central Locking

On our T30 Series 1, the speed signal is easy to pick up from the combination guages as a voltage and then just a simple comparator circuit could give a pulse to a relay in parallel with the central locking circuit.

Not sure about the T31, but the T30 Series 2 does not have this speed signal voltage as some have found when trying to link in to their vehicle dynamics head units.

When would you want it to unlock the doors ?

I was thinking that for any automatic transmission Xtrail it would be simpler to use the D position for locking the doors and P for unlocking the doors.

Re: Central Locking

Hi Kev,

I would prefer it to lock when I reach 20kms/hour and unlock in "P". That's my personal preference anyway, but I know that having the lock work with "D" is simpler.

P.S. The earlier link I posted is working now too.
