Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

Have also tried the Maguires scratch X and it does a pretty good job of hiding fine scratches.
In some cases it didn't quite remove them completely so these must have been a little deeper. Anything it won't take out is best left to the detailers i think. emoticon

Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

I'm told the reason toothpaste helps remove scratches from paintwork was because two of the ingredients are bicarbonate of soda and jewellers rouge which are both very fine abrasives....
Another one is good old Brasso, an old German guy that worked in the Mercedes body shop told me thats how the Mercedes autos got that deep looking shine.... I've used Brasso on a few cars and found it to do a great job but you must shake the tin each time before applying it to a cottonwool pad.... But don't use it on a Metalic paint....... Thumbs up here for the Mcquires Scratch X. I used it and if the scratch hasn't gone too deep. It does remove them. Thanks for the heads up. emoticon

Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

My little blue girl and I just want to say a big thank you to everyone. It just shows how informative and valuable this forum is. emoticon

After the QLD Mystery Tour she was looking a bit worse for wear. No fault of myself, as a stupid bush wasnt watching where it was going near the lookout and jumped out from no where and attacked her emoticon

I had never heard of Scratch X until reading it here. All I could think was ' Oh no, cut and polish, there goes the paint protection.' So got my hands on some Scratch X and she is now looking near back to her showroom self.

Highly recommend the Scratch X, as very surprised some of the scratches came out given how bad they looked. (Note: it wont fix stone chips or very deep scratches [not caused by mystery tour].

Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

Well today the car got a clean and a week ago I brought this case of cleaners from Maguires which contained a polish ,glass cleaner ,car shampoo and a wonderful little product called swirl-x ,I washed the car first and then hit it with the scratch-x ,then hit it with the swirl-x and then I went over her with the polish emoticon .

Must say the effect was outstanding ,even the deeper scratches we got on our last weekend out were out of site.

Regards Scot

Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

Ouch, Beware of teething foals.

Image Image

He's about 10months old now and hope he doesn't keep this up for too much longer or my exy will be a mess. Check the second pic, you can actually see the mark of his teeth.

Unfortunately the narrow bush road on the Mackay trip added to the mess with lantana scratches along both sides.

Hopefully, one of the above remedies will help. Maybe I should try the toothpaste?

Ouch
Hopefully they might come out with a bit of elbow grease.
How can a horse do that to the top of the bonnet?
That horse would have been dog food if I caught it doing that to my Xy. emoticon

I find that Kitten No.2 cutting polish (red bottle) does the trick beatifully.
The only scratches it won't remove is ones that go through the top coat of paint.

Re: How to remove unwanted scratches ???

It's nothing a fence wouldn't help, but that's a major expense. I'm going down to Mackay for work for 4-6 weeks, so I'm praying he'll be over the teething stage by then.
