Andrew,

I am not sure what you mean by that but I know that our fenders come un-painted from the factory (as a spare part) and are painted/colour coded like any other panel on the car.

Here is a pic of what a brand new fender looks like when you order it

Re: Car polish

emoticon I will use the same wax I use on the Jag. Its a Meguire's wax methinks - my partner is more into the whole car cleaning fetish.

Tomorrow we try to fit the X-trail into the garage with the Jag. Funny, the colour of the X-trail - Twilight - is almost the same as the colour of my previous Daimler - which was called Topaz. It looks grey in some lights and almost gold in others. At least it doesn't show the dirt much.

cheers

Bill

Re: Car polish

The reason I said they are painted is that like Jalal has stated is when you get your gaurd they are not painted and you need to paint them (Guenuine Nissan Gauard)and for getting scratches in the paint on the gaurd or anywhere else I would change from the polish or wax (clear coat safe) that you are using and use quality product so you dont cratch your paint.

The fenders are not painted, they are colour formed. If you scratch one you will see it doesn't flake, it tears.

Paint tears go to a panel shop and ask. I had stripes on a 4runner and I had new stickers put back on after it had been scratched and the paint came off when they were aligning the stripes and tore like aluminium. A healthy debate is always good

Re: Car polish

I just had a look under the bonnet of the Exy and there is distinct overspray on the inside of the gaurd as if it had been painted. Also I tried the Eagle One Wet polish wax on my other car it has swirls on it live outside and is not cared for like the Exy and it took the swirls out or filled in the gaps either way there gone just thought I would mention that. I guess my wife will expect me to finish the rest of the car now hehehe

Re: Car polish

Good stuff about the swirl marks, my exy is full of them as a result of a bad polish job at the local car wash. Will give it a go next weekend. Thanks for the info.

Who stocks this stuff? Repco, SuperCheap and K-mart?

Re: Car polish

Thanks for the info guys,

Looks like I started something when i enquired about polish.

I have just tried meguires Gold Class wax.

Not cheap but is easy to use.

Can wax whole of exy in one go and polishes of without elbow grease.

Sure makes exy waterproof.

Can buy at Autobarn.

Car now back to showroom shine.

Re: Car polish

Not yet Dave, but I will do this before the photo shoot day on 10/9.

I couldn't find the Eagle One polish anywhere but I realised that I have Meguire's Scratch -X- in the garage so am gonna use that and see how I go.
