Re: Car polish
ok, well following the recommendations from Jalal and the Maguires "doctor", I picked up some Maguires Nxt Generation Car Wash and a tube of Maguires Scratch X. (The scratchers from off road use were noted at the Xmas gathering.
Hopefully next weekend the weather will pick up and I will be able to do some work.
After the wash and scratch x I will be using Nano Wax, so will post pics of the results
fingers crossed!

Paul,
Can't wait to see the Black Exy with the nanowax coat make sure you capture the gloss in the photo as it is very hard to do . Always looks better in the flesh.

Re: Car polish
Hey just picked up my new Xtrail ST Platinum last week. After reading the posts on polish i bought some of the auto glym polish to give the car some lovin/protection. Man thats the best polish i have ever used. So easy to apply and take off. Previously I have been useing McGuires, but i find this stuff so much easier to remove. Their plastic care (armerall) is really good too.
I used to have a 1977 merc 450se that was in concourse condition. Best car i ever owned. I wish i knew about this polish back then

Re: Car polish
Howdy guys,
Wanted to ask your opinion if you think it is safe to use Eagle One Nanowax on the plastic/vinyl (not really sure about the material)areas where the back and front doors meet in the middle of the car and also the bottom molding of the doors and at the back of the car. I did try using it for those areas and it cleans them incredibly (cleaning all those finger prints) but still i'm curious whether it's safe or not (as i might be simply erasing tiny layer of the material which isn't really good)? Or if you guys are using any better alternatives for those areas (simple washing doesn't do a thing).
Cheers,
Serge.

Re: Car polish
Hi guys,
I have a BLACK 2005 Exy.
I read the whole thread and recall a mention on waxing/polishing the front plastic quarter panels, but I can't recall what should be used on them? (also why are they plastic? more durable/flexible in off-road environs?)
Call me a goose, but I thought waxing and polishing were two different things.
Washing - obviously just to remove grime/dust - Required: Regulary
Waxing - After washing to add a protective coating on the paintwork to extend the life of the paintwork and colour. - Required: Every second month (depending on conditions)
Polishing - to cut back the paint work slightly to bring the colour through and remove light scratching. Required: As needed but shouldn't be performed too regulary as it removes a layer of paint.
Is the above correct? I need to get it right as a black car shows up scratches pretty easily.

Re: Car polish
You would use exactly the same polish on the plastic panels just like the rest of the car. They're plastic to reduce the overall weight of the car and much easier to replace (cheaper) and also quite practical if you get hit with a trolley.
There are different types of polishes around, the polish you're referring to is hard compound polish which will indeed remove a layer of the paint, but there are many polishes around which are soft compound and can be used regularly without impacting the paint. My xtrail is black and it's a 2002 model and I have been polishing it quite regularly with Eagle One products.
