Re: X-Trail Washing Tips
I got a beauty for X-Trail cleaning techniques ... Move to Darwin during the Wet Season
There's the secret to a shiny Exy ... first there's the Category 3 to 4 blast of air to remove the leaves and dust particles ... then thats followed by a Catergory 4 to 5 "wash cycle" ... and finally a nice Category 3 to 4 "air dry cycle" hopefully without the "spin cycle" as that could be a very expensive cleaning bill.

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips
What is this "polish" of which you speak of ? If its got anything to do with wax on wax off and elbow grease then no way ... the shinier the car is up here the better chance it'll get scratched I reckon ... I say as long as when you squint and it looks like new then that's fine. After all who'ya trying to impress ? The missus drives it everyday, I get it maybe on a weekend pending "finances" and we're both smiling when we get in her to drive still to this day.

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips
Unfortunately, it really comes down to getting the car up on some ramps and putting a high pressure gurney in every (non mechanical) opening you can find. I put it up front and rear, crawl around unnderneath and try and get all the gunk out of the bodywork.
Even up on ramps, and kneeling beside the car gets more stuff off than just spraying from the side.
The exy has a lot of crazy places for sand and dirt to hide.
The next option would be a car wash that does underbody high pressure spray....not many of them around anymore (thinking beach exit servos etc)
Otherwise, paying someone to do it, a detailer (cash) or good mate (beer) is an option
Cheers

That's what I was going to suggest you Bob and there is a car lovers place in Kirrawee that has this under-body high pressure wash. It's a self serve, so you insert coins and drive over it as many times as you want.

i haven't yet seen a good way to clean caked thick mud underneath the car
Hope for flooding rains, or at least a torrential downpour, then drive up and down a street with lots of water running in the gutter at speed. Fixes the passenger side easy, then you just need to get the drivers side......
Or do an offroad creek crossing or 2, cleans the underbody well based on my past experience with clay mud in Qld.....
